I was really surprised to see the following quote from Itagaki (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=189396): So what's next for Dead or Alive?
Itagaki: This is another area that me and my closest colleagues all agree that we were able to achieve the definitive fighting game with DOA4. So we're not looking to extend the series at this point. Wow, I'll be surprised if we don't ever see DOA5 as I'm sure Tecmo will not abandon a reasonably successful franchise, but I guess it probably won't be produced by Itagaki.

it's kinda sad that that drunken fool Itagaki honestly believes he achieved "the definitive fighting game" with DOA4. It's exactly that illusion that prevents him from making the DOA series from 'good' into 'great' But I Do hope DOA5 will come and be created by someone else.

He was just making excuses, I'm guessing he's moving to another job or retiring seeing as he's gave up on Ninja Gaiden too.

Yeah I can't wait to see what the game can look like without that tool at the helm.

This sounds like good news to me. As a Virtua Fighter player, I always hear comments like Virtua Fighter was inspired by DOA, or that Virtua Fighter is a slower clone of DOA.
The sad thing is that DOA is just a retarded, boob-obsessed version of the beloved VF franchise and was way overrated to begin with. Good Riddance.
EDIT: No, wait, I take some of that back. DOA doesn't even deserved to be called a 'version' of VF. Its just a pervert stealing the general game engine and stupefying it greatly.
