Whooo!!!

If you haven't already downloaded this demo on ps3 or 360, go get it! If you have already played it, tell us what you think!

So far I'm loving it. I'm happy with the system overall and I really like the physics of it. The takedown tier system is really cool too. As soon as my girl is done playing guitar hero I'm going to up the difficulty and beat some more ass.

Up to this point, I've won by 3 flash KO's, 1 "rocked" KO, 2 armbars, and one kamura. I'd like to land a rear naked choke, but thats a really tough posistion to get into.

Anyone else played this?

Any thoughts on the striking department? From what I read you can't dodge or parry. Chuck seems to be broken as well

Err what? you can defintely parry (leading to either clinch or takedown attempt), but I didnt try the demo long enough to test the dodging thing. There is definitely the technique itself in the demo, but whether or not it works I didnt test.

Dodging is done with "steps", meaning you flick the movement stick in a direction and your fighter takes a quick step. I've seen the computer use this as a sucsessful dodge several times. Mostly it gets you out of range for high strikes. It doesn't always cause a whiff, but it lessens the damage taken.

And Chuck isn't broken. I dont know where you heard that, but I find Rua to be much more effective in a fight.

being succesful in something is not automatic, I think the characters stats affect how easy or hard succeeding in offensive or defensive technique is. For instance the demo fighters are kickboxing and muay thai, so ground techniques are hard to do.

This is game is awesome. I've been playing as Muay Thai rua all night on the PS3. I'm able to pull off some Tony Jaa type knee
and elbow attacks \:D The two ring girls aren't bad either \:D

I'm totally digging the replays after the fights and between rounds. Awesome IMHO the announcing and crowd sound effects are spot on. I'm loving the control system, it seems very natural to me. The physics in the game are very very very good. I'm also impressed with the variety of animations for knock downs and knock outs WHOAA! I learned how to do the run followed by a knee to the face at about 4:00 a.m. this morning (EST) OMG \:D The Brazilian Jujitsu ground game is tight.

Another trip on this game is fighting at the 3d angles and the collisions between the fighters as they clash trying to attack at the same time. Its looks very good and realistic. The same attack as you are circling or moving to left or right has slightly different animations with more-or-less realistic impact on the other fighter.

I cannot wait to get the full game I only hope the customized fighter profiles are portable, and that replays can be saved and shared.

Take Fight Night Round 3 add Judo, Brazilian Jujitsu, Kickboxing, and Wrestling, better physics and more realistic crowds, a fairly legitimate referee and U have UFC 2009. The blood system is pretty accurate too!

Sometimes you end up with the opponents blood on you. The fighters scar differently, The cut system looks pretty damn realistic. Also if you work on different parts of the opponents body it will start to get bruised red, swolen, totally kewl \:o

I'm diggin the stamina meters as well. The more damage an attack has it effects the your stamina, If you get hit while your stamina is low it could result in one hit knock outs or knock downs. The more Stamina you have the more effective your combos seem to be (I'm not quite sure on this) but it seems like it.

The camera angles in the game IMHO are also well done, lots of different angles to see the fighters, crowd, referree, announcers, and videographer from.

4 Me this is the perfect fighter to play when not playing VF. They balance each other perfectly. What I don't get from VF I would get from this game, and what I don't get from this game I would get from VF.

I can't wait to start sponsoring tournaments that feature both VF and UFC 2009 \:D

Check out some of the options too. You can change the difficulty and, man, I just got KO 3 times in a row by chuck on the highest difficulty. If you want to see how dodging works in UFC, set the difficulty way up and throw headkicks. Chuck sways back to make me whiff, then does a superman punch to the side of my jaw during my recovery (you recovery slightly sideways on a head kick whiff). Flash KO almost every time!

The stamina meter effects all your strikes and techniques a lot. In the options screen, you can turn the stamina meter on so you can see it during a fight. Id suggest doing this a few times just so you can see how the meter works in general. Pay attention to how it drains when in a submission. If you run out of temp stamina during a sub, then you can no longer progress. This means that if you start a sub and run out, your opponent gets to break it for free. However, if you're on the wrong side of a submission and run out of stamina... well, thats game over for you. Very exciting when you see your opponent run out of gas during a sub though.

Also, the tutorial is very important to understand the finer details of the game. If I didn't know about the "hold towards on the right stick during a full guard mount to get the ref to stand you up", I would have lots a lot more fights.

Loving this game. Loving it. Has anyone beaten the comp on the highest difficulty?

Oh BTW, I'm going to get this game on PS3 unless theres a lot of users on VFDC that are getting it on 360. What system is everyone buying it for?

I checked this out last night before I went to bed.

Went through all the tutorials then went into exhibition matches but I kept getting pinned to the ground and pummeled like crazy, I think I got knocked out about five times and didn't get one win...

This game is too complex for me \:\(
