I can hear what everybody says in this thread and I really appreciate Kamaage's generosity, but I can't help agreeing with L_A. The VF communities in both Japan and US has become pretty small, and from a commercial perspective, I don't think SEGA will be willing to port VF5R to console. I believe that it is wise to expect them to develope the next VF game in the near future and bring it to console simultaneously.

I'd say that money would be better spent towards something that will have a much larger profit margin.

I disagree with the idea we'd be better off waiting for VF6. I think the VF version we should want released for home consoles should be the most refined, complete version available. I'd rather have VF5R now and wait longer for VF6 than be stuck with an early version of VF6 that never gets updated. Besides, all the awesome work Sega has put into VF5R's customization is one of it's main selling points over vanilla VF5. If we wait for VF6 (and that's assuming there will be a VF6 in the near future) we'll be pretty much back where we started in terms of the game's appeal. But, if Sega is planning on releasing a VF5 Final Tuned or something like that, I'm all for waiting.

Thanks to everyone for their contribution, especially El_Twelve for getting the template started. I've just finished putting (more like slapping) it all together and have passed it onto kamaage. He'll be meeting SEGA tomorrow so we wish him good luck and thanks again for the opportunity. The document (Microsoft Word format) can be downloaded here: http://virtuafighter.com/downloads/VF5R_Console_Proposal_by_VFDC.zip (1.60 MB) We'll report back on any news as soon as it comes to hand. Once again, thanks to all who helped out!
