I figured that since the ranking system on XBL isn't too accurate we could get our own "personal opinion" ranking system going. Going off of the players you've played and/or VF videos you've watched of US, CAN, EU and any other VF players outside of Japan...
who are your top 10 VF players?
Here's my list:
1. Shinz
2. Rikojjang
3. Yosuke
4. Adam
5. Denkai
6. Myke
7. Flash
8. Cidkid
9. Gentleman Thief
10. TIE between Konjou and DaBadSeed
It was kind of hard to think of who to put on this list. I don't know for sure if one of those players is better than the other but going from the bit I know, I've made this PERSONAL list.
Only true way to know is to put all of these top players in a room together at the same time and have them all battle it out. This isn't a "Top 10 VF players of all time" list. Out of the RECENT VF players, who do you think's the best?
Please don't let stuff like "who cares what I think" or let others discourage you from giving your two cents on the topic. I want to generate some VF talk and get people talking about the VF scenes outside of Japan.
No need for bickering and/or arguing, if you think my list is wack, then put up your own list of the top 10 VF current players
Interesting... I tried something a little similar in:
Virtua Fighter Hall of Fame and got lots of eyes glazed over, and blank stares.
My question is:
Top Ten out of those who go to SoCal each year?
Top Ten out of those who play on XBL?
Top Ten out of those post videos on YouTube?
Top Ten out of U.S players?
Top Ten out of Canada players?
Top Ten out of your calling circle?
What population are you drawing the top ten out of? And of course you realize that which everone you pick you leaving out
another one.
I'm not going to criticize the idea of having a list, because as noted above, I've suggested something similar B4. But sense that time, I've expanded my motivation. I think an even more useful list than the top ten players (regardless of population origin) would be a list of all those players that
are worth playing by geographical region. I consider anybody that a player can learn from as being worth playing. Obviously, this is a very long list for absolute beginners. It is a somewhat shorter list for intermediate players, and a even shorter list for advanced player. But if we had this list by geographical region, this would be a very useful list of VF players.
That way, no matter what part of the world I'm in, I'd have some idea of where I could get a legitimate VF match.
Top 10 current VF players outside of Japan is an interesting list. But the bonafide VF players by geographical region is
is a truly useful list.
Also I think it is the case that VF players in different geographical regions tend to have a different styles of play. This is what I found when I played cats from Detroit Mi, Cleveland Ohio, Sharon Pennsylvania. These are all in the US and yet the players approached VF differently. So my guess is that players in South Africa, probably have a different VF swagger from the players in the Philippines vs VF players in Australia vs players in Canada etc. So a list of bonafide VF players by geographical region would be good to have. Especially on VFDC.
In terms of top 10. I've run across ferocious players that I'd never heard of b4 that had exceptionally tight game. With no youtube outings, no VFDC sightings, no tournament sightings etc. So at the very most
'top 10' would likely be a relative designation.
