Just when you thought Option Select in the VF2 series wasn't broken enough, along comes a discovery 20 years later that changes the game, again.

First of all, big thanks to our friend Hiro for this heads up. As the title says, there's some nice and nasty new VF2 (and possibly VF3) technique discovered. I'll just copy and paste what he send us via email here:

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for VF2, I know Jaei Maru (the guy who was in charge of Kage in VF3
tapes) has been posting things online. Actually, after twenty years,
he found a new technique in VF2.1!! This was made possible with the
    help of technology to analyze.

    "Auto 3- taku": http://jaei.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-169.html
    So, in VF2, even if you press a button (such as P, K, G, or P+G, P+K,
K+G), the system waits for 1 F to see if there is another entry. For
example, you press P in the first frame and press P+G in the second,
the system reads it as P+G. Also, if you press P in the first frame
and press G (no P) in the second, the system still reads it as P+G.
The only time the system really reads your input in 1 F if (1) when
you press P+K+G or (2) when you throw your opponent - takes 0F. By
the way, notice that if you want to throw a low P (2+P), then you
should really press 2+P+K+G. Otherwise, you are wasting one frame.

Now, the new techniques work as follows:

For example, with Jeffrey (or Wolf), enter 3, 3+ P+K (first frame),
P+K+G (second frame). Here, there is no need to let go of P+K you
entered in the first frame, but it is enough to add G in the second
frame. Then, (1) the system first recognizes it as Splash Mountain
(3, 3+P+K) since a throw is recognizes in 0 F. So, you will throw the
opponent if he is standing still. (2) If a throw does not work, then
the system recognizes your input as Power Bomb (3+P+K+G). (3) if both
fails, the system recognizes your input as a low P.

Another example with Wolf, if you do P+G (1F), 2+P+G, then either (1)
you throw the opponent with P+G, (2) low-throw with 2+P+G, or (3) low
    P.

This is also useful even if you do not have a low throw. For example,
with Shun, if you enter P+G (1F), 2+P+G, then you either (1) throw
with P+G or (2) a low P. He says that the system works is the same
for other VF such as VF3, but there is no confirmation.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Cant wait to try it!
Also....Jesus christ its been almost 20 years?!
