some of the characters already have techniques from different styles. also some of the styles would be similar to the point of redundancy in terms of character design.

sarah already uses quite a bit of tae kwan do.
hapkido is the cool throw/grapple/hold/reversal counterpart to tkd but it's basically aikido
jujutsu is ninjutsu, so kage already covers it
valle tudo is a lot like krav maga
    etc

this was a direct reference to metal gear but w/e kill the joke

martial arts styles aren't quite the unique snowflakes you believe them to be.

the history behind karate/aikido and taekwando/hapkido is marred and confusing thanks to nationalistic bullshit from both korea and japan. there is much debate about which came first or if they both branched off from a previous style. karate is quite similar to taekwando in practice, and the general concepts of aikido and hapkido are suspiciously similar (both are heavy on joint-locking and throws, many of which are quite similar). here's a little something i found on wikipedia about hapkido and i did check the source.

Hapkido is rendered "합기도" in the native Korean writing system known as hangul, the script used most widely in modern Korea. The art's name can also however be written "" utilizing the same traditional Chinese characters which would have been used to refer to the Japanese martial art of aikido in the pre-1946 period. The current preference in Japan is for the use of a modern simplified second character; substituting for the earlier, more complex character .

the thing you have to remember is that no martial art happens in a vacuum. they're all built on top of something else.

That could be interesting for the gameplay , his main starters beeing lows ( maybe one or two mids on CH).
He should have low throws of course, the opponent beeing likely to crouch guarding (yutori could be more difficult against him ^^).

Gameplay is complicated. But its interesting though.

Characters and stories. That's almost easy.

characters should be built around the general game design. you can't separate them, otherwise you wind up with marvel vs capcom design. you can't just give a character a low launcher, for example, without thinking about how it would impact his/her overall strengths/weaknesses.

and that why i said said his mids would be weak its basically switching mids withs lows so you have to fight differently with him

They should rip off that main dude from The Raid. You know, whatever martial art he is doing.

Just throw in Bahn and make him an Akira clone with a slightly different moveset. That's half of a new matchup I don't need to learn.

Also, ninjutsu is not a martial art.
