Virtua Fighter: Victory Road - Sydney League and Tournaments

Hey all, so as many of you are already aware, Sydney has been running an ongoing league for Virtua Fighter!
We've had five rounds so far, but we plan to keep going, including being featured as a main game at OzHadou Nationals!

This is a RanBat series running in Sydney and Melbourne (and any other state that wishes to participate) aimed at helping new players pick up the game. Basically a series of tournaments through the year, where we will track results and keep a leader boards so people can see how they've been improving.

Our next scheduled tournament is 25th June 2016 at the monthly YSB event. If anyone here isn't already aware, please come down and join us! I'll also be updating this thread to keep everyone in the loop with the improving VF scene in Sydney!

Victory Road VII was a raging success, with returning champions, major upsets and some new faces joining the fold. This bodes well for OHN Virtua Fighter, to all the VF'ers in Australia, please remember to register ASAP! (http://ohn.ozhadou.net/registration.html)

The star of the tournament has to be the returning @Jihoon , who powered through the bracket like a locomotive. Toppling many strong players, including @Chill and @megadeth, he fell just short of being able to defeat Iron @Myke who retains his championship.

3) Megadeth
4) Chill

New faces Chemical and @DaV-GoD had a fantastic showing, well played to both of you and I hope you had fun and will join us again! Also the return of FireRyda who played strongly against some stiff competition. Spread the word and let's keep the scene growing!

Current league standings here:
Jihoon has climbed to the #5 spot, overtaking Genxa and on the heels of Made Man!
Kakaw also climbed a position in his return YSB and is now holding 7th Place!
Hugo unfortunately dropped a position in his absence, so will need to put the upstarts in their place next tournament to regain his spot!

I think I've improved a lot in the last year, most the scene has really. Jihoon is very strong, I think his only failing so far is learning some higher damage combos, but his neutral is very good. He used to play in Korea and moved to Sydney this year (or late last year?).

Hopefully you can play us some time, maybe Evo Japan 2018!

 

You should do it! Set up a league like we have with Victory Road, it's super easy to just upload challonge brackets, and gives some weight to the game without putting down cash.

Hoping I can come hang out with all you guys again before too long. I miss Taka house ramen!

Also miss buying boxes of Timmy's Bits and smashing them all before the tournaments with the VF guys.
