Guys I finally landed the burning driver

Sorry if these kind of threads are discouraged, but this move has always been my Impossible Dream due to how extremely situational it is and how easy it is to tech (because why wouldn't you be teching forward against wolf).

But I finally did it, and I could just about cry. It was a really terrible round (I was blocking a lot to try and get used to yutori) and a terrible match even, but none of that could stop me from saving this replay.

as a tip, you can force your opponent to not break forward by using back throw. if they're not adapting, they're handing you the game.

 

Burning driver is a backthrow and therefore inescapable. Doing double evades on some of the opponents strings might get you there. Anyway, landing that on someone feels awesome, so congrats.

 

It is indeed a great achievement landing that back throw. Congrats.
Also If you fight Kage, remmeber that is -19 and leaves kage back turned. That's the perfect situation to use the burning driver as punishment and take that sweet 120 points away from that dirty ninja.

another scenario where you can land that back throw is against aoi:
When you do the ground throw we are usually at +12 with the opponent back turned, meaning that everybody will take the quick shoulder ... everybody except aoi who can dodge even from back turned. But this is why the burning driver comes into play, because we can use this mighty throw to take that to our advantage. However it's not a garanteed option like double evading a string like Combolammas suggested.

I guess the next goal should just be actually getting good at the game! At this point I've landed every goofy situational thing I can think of between all the characters I play, including a ringout with El Blaze's rocket discharge low throw (which is probably a lot more unlikely than the burning driver, given all the advice posted in this thread for landing it).

Not as cleanly as the based InterDinghy!

 

Burning Hammer and Burning Driver are 16 frames exectution. That's why it's so hard landing that back throw.
Same with 6P+G with or without a wall, the exectution stays 9f, which is why 66p+k is good to pressure an opponent close to the wall.

So just to close out the most bizarre week, I actually managed to hit someone from behind with the deadly move grab in an actual match too, almost immediately after reading about a combo specific to that exact situation and saying out loud "Well that'll never happen." Actually hit the combo off it too.

Kind of wish I could get to some kind of tournament now with all this bizarre setup luck.
