0-frame throw question?

When you're using a move that gives you a 0-frame throw out of it, i.e. El Blaze's or Goh's roll into throw, canceling back-turn into throw ect. will it grab them if they are in any state other than actively attacking?

What I mean is, if they're not late into the start-up frames of their attack, do they get thrown? It seems like, at times, you can slip a 0-frame throw in even when they are attacking... Am I incorrect about how this works?

Can you clash a 0-frame throw?

The thing El Blaze's/Goh's Roll, BT cancel, Brad Sway cancel, etc do is skip frames for you to remove a certain constraint. Namely 0-f throws do not occur within 10 frames of a move being blocked (by either player).

When you input a throw the game immedietly assesses whether the requirements for 0-frame throw are met. If yes, the grabbing animation is skipped and you go straight into the throw animation. If no, you get the grabbing animation with the throw at the end if it succeeds.

If a character is in the start-up frames of an attack a 0-f throw will not occur and a 12-f throw will animate as normal (hitting (to possible escape), getting countered or clashing as normal).

The thing these kind of delay moves do is make it harder for the opponent to react in time. You want to block against the moves Blaze can pull out of his roll (or Brad from his slips) but if they choose to press G into throw you've got 0 frames between the end of the stance/roll animation and your getting thrown, leading to 'virtually pure' nitaku as you would need to input your move before the stance animation ends, which could lead to you eating a counterhit launcher.

So, in short, whenever you feel yourself thinking 'wtf, I pressed P', know that your opponent went into a 0-f throw as little as 1 frame before you pressed that button and thus completely ignored whatever you were doing.
