    Standard Disclaimer
These videos were all automatically indexed by a little program I wrote which is still in progress. A new feature I've added now shows a summary of the characters used along with the play count. This is helpful if you're looking for videos of a particular character since you can readily see if the character was featured, and for how many games. No need to manually scan long indexes any more!

If you spot any errors in the index, please let me know.

@Myke I have no idea how programming works or how this program works. Its really nice, dont have to sit there sorting through matches of garbage characters (aoi, eileen, pai...) you get my point. Was wondering though, would it be possible to get player names along with the character used through your program?

This is really hard to do for a number of reasons.

In very simple terms, the way the program currently works is that it's performing image recognition on the character portraits and comparing them to a library of portraits (19 characters). In other words, for every frame in the video, it compares:
    • Player 1's character portrait against the 19 characters available, and
    • Player 2's character portrait against the 19 characters available.
If a match occurs, then I stop checking until the current detection is broken. So that's potentially 38 image detection calculations occurring every frame of video. With me so far? Good.

So in order to detect Japanese characters, a similar approach could be taken, but I'd need to build an image library of all Player ring names (any volunteers?) How many players are actively playing in Japan? A shit load more than 38! Of course, this is susceptible to being broken because players can and often do, change their ring name so ideally you'd want someone to maintain the list.

Another approach would be to research into some Optical Character Recognition (OCR) on the Japanese text. Those who've used OCR software before will know that results can be really varied, and that's with clean, legible text. I personally couldn't imagine getting anything useful from grainy-vision Japanese streams where every Kanji character looks like a white blob.

Having said that, I don't really have the time or resources to be able to build up a Japanese player name image library (again, calling for volunteers?), and I don't know if it's even technically feasible to use existing OCR technology with the program I've written. It'd be definitely a nice feature to have, but it's not really worth the investment for the perceived value it might provide.

Hello @Myke your solution its the best solution.
You can include a little image with the names of both player, i said if this names always appears in a specific point of the screen you maybe can cut two little images like:
    0:18:41 - Aoi vs Lion (01:49) jaytecx.png ares-olimpico.png
in this way if sobody knows the kanjis of his favourite player can find it watching all picture but is better than nothing.
Supose are kanjis maybe a "tag user with time" in the media section?
or simply add names in your list and update
for example i know this lion is Akio 0:16:47 - Aoi vs Lion (01:15) unknown Akio

@Myke Cool, yea the program makes sense to me now. In VF terms, the work isnt worth the reward. Would be a cool feature to have, but its not that much harder to skip to your character, see if its your favorite player and move on. Plus yea, those guys are changing their ring names all the time
