Didn't know where to put this...

But ever since a few days ago, my 360 has been randomly havin' the "Unreadable disc" error come up in the middle of me loading an online match.

I'm not sure if it's my disc, or my 360. My 360's usually break once every 3-6 months. [I'm on my 8th one now. Warranties ftw.]

And looking at my disc, there isn't anythin' wrong with it.
Except for today when I took it out it was all foggy-lookin'.
    Any suggestions? I'm kinda desperate.

Did you bump the 360 while it was running? This could have scratched it.

I once bumped my 360 that was in vertical position and the disk came loose and started making horrible noise. Thankfully the disk wasnt scratched from the image area, only from the center. After that I always keep the 360 in horizontal position..

Do you leave the disc in the machine when you turn off your console? Because I get that foggy film as well when I leave it in the machine after awhile. Now, I always put the disc back in it's case when finished playing. No more foggy film ever since.;) I hope this helps.

Nah, I'm super careful not to hit my 360 or bump it. Happened when I was playing Marvel. The disc got completely annihilated from it lol.

I haven't done anything different. And yeah, I do keep the disc in my 360 when I turn it off. Should I start taking it out now?

edit: Just happened during quest mode. My second fight in and the error came up. =/

A decent amount of 360s have issues with the drives. I think Microsoft uses a small variety of drives (like maybe two or three?) for the 360 and one of them is prone to read issues.

From what I've heard, the disc-read error problems aren't covered completely under Microsoft's 3-year warranty, but I'm sure they'll look at it. If you got your system at Costco or some place with a complete return option, swapping systems isn't a bad option at all (and don't forget to ask them to let you swap the HDD while you're at it).

While I don't have a 360, I do deal with a bunch of them at work. And I'd say about one in ten of the ones I go through comes across a drive issue of some sort.

Unfortunately, from what I've seen, the only attitude to have with a 360 is the "wait and see when it's going to break" attitude.

On the 360 the music skips in Vf5 alot, mostly in online vs. And the video stalls and skips in the intro video too. Wierd.

I'm now on my 9th 360. I just run up to Best Buy and exchange them whenever they break. I don't feel like waiting 3 weeks - a month for Microsoft to repair and return them.

But, I have another issue with it anyway. My disc tray won't open unless I keep a game in at all time. Or else I have to force the tray to open with my hands. Not very fun.

I have the same issue. I have to press in on the drive, after pushing the button, then it opens. Or else leave in a disk.

Contact Microsoft on that, and you will get a new Xbox 360. Malfunctions such as that the drive won't open are not funny at all.

So I guess it's not only me who's had this problem. Occasionally the music will cut out during a match, and come back about 10 seconds later. I've had it give me a disc unreadable error about twice now.
