8 way gate vs 4 way gate

What do you guys prefer, and why? I'm thinking about getting a custom stick (never used a stick before) and I want to get the best possible stick if i'm going to lay down 200 bucks. But i don't know what I should be looking for. (Of course I've read enough to know about sanwa buttons and all that good parts stuff).

 

Square gate (not octagonal). Makes diagonals easier.

It's true that square gates make diagonals easier. But, on the other hand, with an octagonal gate (8-way) it is easier to do motions where you roll the stick: that is to say, 360°, 180°, and 90° motions but also /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif (a crouch-dash alternative).

8 way gates make for slower directional inputs IMO. especially important for us Wolf players
