Why is everybody so interested in Virtua Fighter 4? SEGA sell very few units of the coin op game In Europe probably less than 200. Yet it seems to
sell by the truck load on any consumer platform. Its exactly the same game, so why dont people want to play it in the arcades? Answers on a postcard
    please..........

Japan is really the only place that an arcade game can rake in more money than a console, and even that's rare. Considering between 50p or 1 pound to play once is quite expensive (especially if you suck) 50 quid to play all you want doesn't sound like such a bad deal?

As for why we're so into it... well... that should be obvious. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

Indeed GaijinPunch, once an arcade game is released on console it makes visiting the arcade near redundant. There is only one reason that people come to arcades after a home release and that's competition. Fighting games like VF only achieve their full potential when you play in the company of others.

Some gamers are lucky to have a couple of friends who are willing to play with them. Some are even luckier and have talented friends to compete with but, for the majority of people from my experience, their only challenge is found at their local arcade.

Virtua Fighter 4 is such a magnificent game. Ten years of development has gone into the current incarnation to produce a game with unparalleled depth and rewards for those with the determination and patience to seek them.

Virtua Fighter has always been an innovator in the 3D Fighting genre. The fact that it was the first doesn't need to be mentioned as it's always been the best at what it does. It's incredibly accessible and the game will grow with the player, if you want to stay at a certain level then that's fine but there's so much to learn and implement. Each character is distinct from the other and provides their own challenges for the player to understand.

    Virtua Fighter's gameplay is unparalleled.

"Its exactly the same game, so why dont people want to play it in the arcades?"

that's the problem, it's NOT exactly the same game, version C is only available in japan and on the ps2, while the rest of the world is stuck with version B, then there's the vf.net thing.....
