A VF Outdoors competition

A group of kids hold an outdoors competition in the forest. They need tents, supplies, and it would be nice to have a experienced outdoors instructor with them. The group finds a sponsor who donate tent's and supplies, though doesn't goto the competition. The group of kids wins the competition and the sponsor says I knew these kids would win, we found the best outdoors instructor for them and the instructor/kids all helped contribute.

1) Does the sponsor have an ethical right to say anything?

2) Should all the kids who werent part of the winning team, and got tents/supplies, thank the sponsor?

 

what was the prize? was it marshmallows? How come no one told me about this? I would have come.

The sponsor happens to be a member of one of the competing teams, and clearly wants that team to win. In fact, the sponsor is more interested in which team wins than in the experience itself. And it would be nice to have one really big, tough, enormously strong and agile kid on the sponsor's team. That way the sponsor can (using this surrogate as an excuse) exercise his pathological need to humiliate, taunt, and tear down the egos of the other little kids who are sick of him.

1) Does the sponsor have an ethical right to say anything?

The sponsor's use of language and allegory is a little weak here. The sponsor lives in America, so he has the right to say damn near anything he wants. The sponsor is also on the internet, so he can say whatever he wants and have next to zero consequences. So "right" isn't the word. Ethics isn't really what I'd use either. Ethically, should the sponser drag his enormous 12th grader in to play with the 6th graders? Sure, why not.. .there's no rule against it, and some 11th graders are already present. Does the sponsor have any business bragging about his 12th grader before an after the competition? No, unless the sponsor's goal is to promote sore feelings, envy, and general irritation among the other kids.

2) Should all the kids who werent part of the winning team, and got tents/supplies, thank the sponsor?

"Thanks uncle Andy for putting up Adam's hotel! And for all the hard work you put into that DVD that never materialized! And for trying to smear shit in the little kid's faces over the 12th grader you didn't really discover or train!"

#1) Argument by analogy is a fallacy.

#2) It's not like the equipment there had "FROM ANDY" written on it in big letters... Everyone who went was grateful for the equipment provided, but its a little unreasonable to expect thanks when most people who went didn't know it was provided by you...

Anyway thanks for lending the equipment, and I was dissapointed you didn't get to make it to the tournament, I was looking forward to playing you...

1) Creed didn't goto the event

2) Creed is not a member of any of the teams (AFAIK)

At least i'm a member of one of the teams and as I pointed out, people used my equipment.

Creed on the other hand didn't go and isn't even a member of the teams.

That didn't happen yet, there were still plenty of NA teams that could have easily competed without Kazu being there as the difference maker. Kazu had to win all his matches in the finals to keep NYC on top. I'm sure given more time to train with him you guys will have a better chance to make that happen in the future.

Just a note about Kazu being on the NYC team. Of course he's a part of the team! That's obvious, but it seems that sometimes you want him being on the team to be the same thing as him being an actual NA player on an equal level with the rest of the NA players so that when he wins it's like we had a great chance and NYC came out ahead. I'll just tell you that for other NA players it will be impossible to view Kazu that way, anyone travelling to play in NYC will look forward to playing a truly high level Japanese player and competing with the rest of your crew, that's just how it is. It's like having a full grown man on your girls soccer team, sure, he helps you out a lot and is a big asset to the team, and of course he gets a lot out of it himself.... well I better not finish this one actually. You probably get my point. Since you weren't there Andy, please keep your mouth shut for the benefit of your teammates that were there and did represent extremely well. Adam, Rodney and Nelson all played and competed for NYC with that "intense" pride you guys have, chest beating is only going to make ppl forget their efforts and focus on "the Kazu difference".

Sorry but we are older now, not some 20 year old punks. We have the ability to build a scene that we like and make that scene grow, and we are one of the few groups comitted to making it #1. VF4 EVO is the #1 Fighting game on Friday and Saturday night at CTF for many months running and I helped hand build that with adam. Our scene has a double digit crowd waiting to play on weekeneds. Something that never would have happened without our input. We are proud of our team and the players in NYC and frankly I dont have the energy irl to deal with people whom I dont think are cool. I am a loyal friend IRL whom can help and not a VIRTUAL one.

My issue with IMF and Blonde One is that they are just being complete assholes with disrespect for those who pay the bills and offer to host, and like I said you insult or DISS one and you DISS ALL. As far as im concerned if you hurl something VF related to SAL or anyone else on TeamNYC it's fair ground for ANY of us to reply.

Whatever point you try to make by implying I should have made it... also applies to you. In fact it applies doubly to you. You have a good job, plenty of money, and you LIVE THERE. I think you kept away because you knew that your VF level is laughable in the face of guys like kazu and ryan hart, and you have some serious insecurity about being publicly outclassed in front of 30 people.

Anyway, mighty white of you to provide the equipment. I like your "I don't travel so I won't be in anyone's debt" theory. That implies you provide equipment for home gatherings so others can be in YOUR debt. And why do you want them in your debt? So you can mouth off and get away with it by holding NYG over their heads. Looks like it doesn't work that way though.

Honestly andy... you play when you feel like, don't travel, and contribute nothing... I play whenever I can, travel no less than an hour each visit, and contribute a lot.
