    They way they saw it:

Absolution 2004 'The Balance Of Judgement' World Fighting Game Tournament. it's time! The Absolute Fighting Games Championship is about to begin. UPG and it's Sponsors are looking forward to witnessing something fierce from the top Fighting games Competitors in the world.................................

    They way I saw it:

Absolution 2004 biggest load of tourney turd I have ever attended,

    The Venue:

I think the best place to start on would be the venue (Archangel takes off his jumper). Central London the mainframe of the UK, the hub, where UK VF scene is at it's best. You get the idea a good place to
prove that the UK is not some mickeymouse joke to the rest of the world, yeah well abs pretty much screwed up on that one I’m not sure what that venue was a cross between a victim of a Terrorist bombing and a boiler room is the best thing I can think off infact I found something better it was like that little hut the Americans found sadam hiding in (his one was better though he had air con). HOT AS FUCK, Dirty as hell, holes in the floor, wires sticking out, sticky liquid on the floor /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif and the list goes on for a while. Basically the venue sucked the innards of a Monkeys ass.

    The organisation:

"Super Street Fighter 2 turbo (ST); Virtua Fighter 4 evolution (VF4 evo) and Street Fighter 3:3rd Strike
(3S): Tournament begins 10:00a.m; we aim to conclude by 10:00p.m."

"VF4 evo (ps2) event from 1:30pm - 4:00pm (prelims RR and finals SE or DE based on number of paid entries)"

Lets see now I got there at 1:30 stood outside for about 20 mins until they let us back in that would make It about 1:50 give or take a few minutes. Now what I expected to see when I got into that shit hole was at least 2 or maybe 3 (no wait that’s asking too much) ps2 running with VF EVO on them. Instead what I got was Super Turbo on about 8 TV'S even though it was scheduled to finish at 12:30. So I thought never mind I’m sure VF will be on soon enough lets try and stick it out. At around 3:00 we finally got a ps2 with VF on it sure it was black and white but hell it was VF and I was sick of watching st and hearing "TIGER" "TIGER" "Hadoken". As many of you know 1 ps2 between 30 people = not many goes also not so great when Ryan goes on one of his winning streaks. Another hour goes by this time VF doesn’t look so appealing anymore and mac d was only round the corner so after some well earned grub I came back this time and found that VF had been turned off and TTT had taken it's place. The tourney was now supposed to start at 5 and well when 5 came VF still didn’t start and st was still going, then I heard VF was gonna start at 6. So After about 5 hours VF finally started (oh yeah the groups were changed) by 6:30 I got my first go of the day on VF by the time I left at around half 8 I had 6 goes in total. During that time ST finished at 7:30 which had a really good final I heard though I couldn’t really see it because of the huge crowd around the tiny screen (lack of a projector) and the sweat going into my eye from the heat. When you host a big tourney you usually want the people who have come from other countries to come back to another event. I don’t see this happening as abs 2004 was more focused on wiping the ass of certain 2d players then any of the VF players that attended. If your gonna treat VF like that sticky substance that was on floor do it first so you can get it out of the way and deal with the other games that acquire more of your attention and stop wasting peoples time and money.

I think by now I have complained enough and there were a few good things I can take from abs.

    Players:

Ollie: LOL said to me he thought he game has improved over the last few weeks and your Aoi is now a bitch to fight and super strong keep it coming.

Stalwart: Didn’t get to play you over this week but heard people complaining about how annoying your Sarah is. Well done man.

Gee ho: Your Pai still surprises me I got to learn your mix ups and improve as much as u have.

Knee: Only saw you play once looked as top tier as usual but where was Jacky.

Onny: Lol don’t think I have laughed so much at a match before, the self-cheerleading was great.

Jide: As usual consistent lion play very nice didn’t see u play very often though.

Ironpalm: Man one day I will defeat you good kage play keep on improving, have a good one is Spain as well.

Looney tunes people: You guys must be at like god tier stage by now super sick play wish I could of come on Sunday to watch but with the disappointment of Thursday and Saturday I didn’t wanna risk it.

Fellowship of the ting: Sorry but I completely missed you guys playing definitely high lvl anyway.

Ogi: Nice to finally meet you and at last I found a kage I enjoy to watch despite you being under the weather you still managed to have some good matches but I didn’t get to play you, but well done anyway.

Shwoking: Good Pai and Lei, lol I even managed to learn a few things from you. Hopefully one day soon I can get a rematch with you.

Exypher: Completely forget to speak to you but managed to see you play a few times, solid Sarah play.

Last but not least Bk, TBBW, Ukwolf or whatever name you choose to go by this week. Saw you play once all day doing pretty well in that harsh group you had, shame you couldn’t make it back for Sunday though I had a feeling you could get pretty far.

Overall Absolution 2004 was bullshit and ullysis is pretty lucky I haven’t asked for a refund for that shit. Don’t ever expect to see me at an event organised by him again. /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif

*sigh* where's derrick lynch when u need him /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

whoo! I'm glad I didn't enter this tournament. I knew from the delay it had I shouldn't of went. So I saved myself £20.

I only went as a spectator cos I wanted to see some VF play as always and to see some new faces play and gather tactics. Lets get on with the trny itself now:

I came late at around 3pm. I arrived to enter a busted up shop that looked like the underground stage in Tekken 4. Normally I can take the heat and hold it for a good 2 hours but this place took the cake. My jacket was off in about 45 mins. I then stood around the only VF machine being played until Ryan came on which by then it's not much fun to watch cos Ryan just gets a big streak going on. So I wandered off talking to some of the VF peeps and watched some other games being played. Bout an hour later me and TAGVF members went to grab a bite at McD's thinking by the time we get back the trny woulda started. NOPE.

Instead we came back to VF being turned off and TTT being put on. I didn't mind as I liked TTT but that wasn't the point. I came to watch the VF trny which shoulda started at 1:30pm. 5-6 hours later the trny kicks off which by then most of the VF crew were waiting around getting tired and bothered and so couldn't really play at their best.

Another complaint is for the other ppl that took the money and effort to come to this trny. OgiKage and the rest of the Europeans shoulda came to what was gonna be a good trny and have fun. Ogi was even sick and under the weather and he made the effort to come. He put on a damn good show even before the trnys kicked off.

OK, enuff rambling from me and here's some of the good stuff

    highlights:

    - The chinese babes that came near the end, woot! they had ASS!
    - Ogi and his funky Kage. Dude, u made Kage look DAMN good, well done. U should join our group /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif
    - Onny made me laugh a few times with his HEY! chants.
    - The girls
    - I watched some good 3rd strike fights
    - Watching the TTT trny, Saw some nice stuff going on
    - oh and did I mention the girls?!

Anyway, I watched a bit of everyone play and they have improved ALOT! well done everyone. Keep up the Pace and get ready for when Final Tuned comes out /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

    Absolution 2004

    Hi guys,

First of all I would like to say that I am very dissapointed in the way the Absolution 2004 tournament was organized. I had looked at the timeschedule for the tournament before I went to make sure that I would not book my coach back to Holland too early. I even took into account that the tournament could be delayed a few hours.

What I did not expect however is a 5 to 6 hour delay. This made it so that I could not even compete in the tournament, and had to leave before I got my first match. Ofcourse I played some casual matches but that is beside the point.

So basically I travel all the way from Holland to play one lousy game and end up not even getting the chance to do exactly that. Even if I would've taken a coach back the day after the original timeschedule said VF was going to end, I'd still wouldn't be able to finish it if I had reached the second round - the tournament was finished today. I am unsure at what time it ended (if it has already ended that is) but I do know that the original time on the Ullysis website said it would end at 4PM. It looks like that in reality it ended more than 24 hours later. Am I supposed to take into account that a tournament might be finished a day after the original schedule says it will?

If I had known the day before that the tournament would be delayed (or even possibly delayed) I would've most likely gone to a session at Prince Hatim's house and would've had a good time, but instead I wanted to rest up for the tournament. However Ullysis kept insisting that the tournament would start between 1 and 2PM.

And right now I don't even want to talk about the venue or the time it was open, because I don't have time to go downstairs to the bathroom to puke.

Anyway it was fun meeting some of the VF-UK bums, and I even got to play some of you guys. My performance at Ryan's place wasn't too good since I hadn't slept in 40 hours but that's OK, it wasn't about winning for me at that session. It was really fun to meet and play some of you guys there.

Now on to the people I met at this session /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Ryan: Thanks for the drink, the food, the games, the session, letting me stay at your place, letting me use your phone and everything else (too much to name, lol). I already knew you were a nice guy but you prove it once again. The session at your place was too good, even the K-1 fights were funny (that one kick was just too savage). I really enjoyed the matches I played against you even though I never really stood a chance, I really learned a lot from those fights.

Stalwart Samurai: You're even more of a rudeboy than I expected you to be and that's saying a lot, you're just too funny sometimes /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. Too bad Daigo already left Casino before we got there but it can't be helped. Shame we only got one game, it was cool playing some ST against you even though I'm extremely crap at it. Your Sarah is really good, I could learn a whole lot just from watching you play.

Jun: It was good to meet you, I enjoyed playing against you even though I got brucked. Next time we meet we should play some more games, I only recall playing you once which is a shame.

KneeNinja: Shame we only got one match, but it couldn't be helped. I don't think I saw you play a lot either, I remember you beat Ogi but that's it. I'm sure we'll get to play some more next time we meet, unless we're at a Ullysis tournament (just kidding (or am I? /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif)).

Onny: It was good to meet you, shame we never got to play against eachother (now you will disrespect me in VF-UK till the end of time I reckon /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif). Watching Daigo play ST was too much man.

SHwoKing: It was good to finally meet you. We had a few tense matches at the sesh ( /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif) at Ryan's place, I think one of them was saved on someone's memory card as well. Shame we didn't get to play more against eachother though.

THE Prince: (I hope I got your nickname right like this, hehehe) It was good to meet you, too bad we only played one game. I regret not going to your session now, seeing as I never really got to play in the tournament and that was the reason for me not to go.

Jide: We had a few good laughs and a few good games, it was good to finally meet you. I hope you'll go to Holland this summer, would be cool to play some more games if you do.

Optimusomega: I played you a few times and I really had trouble against your characters. Aoi and Shun are two characters that aren't played at all here in Holland, so I had no clue what to expect. You're a good player, keep it up man.

Ogi: It was cool to see you again, I thought it was weird that you didn't stand a chance against me at the hotel. You had a few really good matches though (not just against me), keep practicing. I'm sure we'll meet soon enough, prepare! /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

ArchAngel: Shame we didn't play against eachother or even met, I never got to see you play either. I'm sure there will be a next time and we'll play enough games to make up for not doing so now. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

DeLune: It was good to meet you, too bad I only got to play against you once. It's a real shame there weren't nearly enough PS2s on for VF casuals, because I only got to play some people once which is a shame.

RandomHajile: sup Mr Brown, you are one funny guy. I don't think I ever played against you though, which is a shame. Maybe next time!

Everyone I'm forgetting: Sorry I forgot you /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Anyway, apart from the tournament my trip to London was pretty succesful for me. I hope to see everyone soon again.

    Take care guys,
    Exypher

Im glad I didn't bother paying £15/20 to enter or turn up at all. The same thing happened with delays at the Warriors Unite tourney but NOT THAT BAD.

You should really make these complaints at the Ullysis website so he at least can read them if he doesn't already know everyones feelings of course.

To be honest warriors unite was better then absolution sure it had delays but not on the scale the abs had.

Well put everyone, especially archangels post, that summed it all up for me too.
Macunochi myself and Mooseman turned up for 10 because we were unable to find anything but dates on the website. So when we eventually got to play (my group started at 6:15, Machunochi's started at 7:45! we were already tired and fed up.
Great games though when I got to acctualy play. I was glad to win more games this time round, looks like my game has improved after all!

i seriousley think we should all join together and sort this out with Uyllisis, i am sick to death with the lot of it. i am furious and want something back. £20 is not only a pathetic amount to pay for any tournament at that status, but is actually a large an sufficient sum of money to me i could have had better worth with a £20 paperclip!

i did not even get to finish that peice of crap because the stupid dumb ass organization started 6 f**king hours after it was announced. people who travelled far especially should have left only after punching someone and breaking a TV - it was not worth it's hype, TV programmes which showcased it have just put up a laughing stock, the venue could not even supass the bottom floor of burger king, the organisation and setup was completely lame, i could not even put my bag on the f**king floor without picking up the saharah desert and a new drink bottle with it each time.

i dont know what to be more angry with, the fact that i qualifyed and could not continue with the event knowing that if it had started at the right time i could have finished atleast till i got knocked out, or the fact that VF was treated like dirt, and i feel sorry for all the traverlllers who came specifically for "ABSOLUTION 2004" - yet got ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING 2004 and yet the organization could happily walk away with everybody's cash and not even say anything!!!

completely ruined my weekend, i came home with nothing to show, especially with the comparitive of it's hype 6 moths ago "oooo UK style beat tribe", "oooo this is the tournament we've all been waiting for" .... yeah for 6 months i have been anticipating it and now i wish the fire caution in troc was a real bomb.

a sheer utter embarasment to the UK name, a sheer scam and con and i am completely discusted especially after having asked directly for some sort of compensation as i was about to leave and get the utter most sh**t i have ever heard in my entire life.

"we say we official we will TRY to end the tournament at 10:00pm"

yeah, this was mentioned to me at ten past ten, and the tournament had not even started, the league had not even ended!!!! it would have needed atleast another 2-3 hours for finish and that's being optimistic.

"we require for people to take the whole day out for this event, it is your choice to leave"

2 hours more and it's the next f**king day!!!! i had important commitments to waking up early the next day and had to fit the tourney in, had it started on time, i could have finished it!

"we started late due to all the late commers"

for 6 bloody hours!!!!????????? that's just insane!! not even a valid sound of speech, i refuse to hear that again.

"we have a strict policy that we dont give refunds"

well that shows to me only that they are not confident in their organization, and i was definatley unaware of this beforehand.

AAAAUGH!! - i have lost a sense of energy toward UK events especially after abs, WHY abs?? i was expecting something so much more rewarding yet it cant even beat dynamic league!!

    -------------------------------------------------------

now for the only good point - meeting new people.

i had some fun looking at other people's styles, very nice people too. some i probably will never meet again in person, i'm sorry i didnt spend as much time talking to some than others.

Ogi - great kage, i had fun watching, truly refreshing to see some style with kage over here, and you realy gave dai's wolf a scare, lol. once i get that movie capped, you will be the first to know.

exypher - only saw u play, i recorded u vs pat (stalwart) in the casuals. imo pat has such a great sarah with lotts of entertaining tricks, it was nice to see you give it some pressure.

shwoking - played u twice, one match won each - mabye next time one of us will uneven that even, but it was nice to see your stepping anyhow. showed some nice throw stagger combos too with th K launcher

french akira - shook your hand.... sorry i didnt see you play. seen you play over the web enough to you your pretty tight though. you seemed like a nice guy.

UK manz - shaddap, u all suck ^^

mabye i'll post some more names later once i calm down.

    Thanks for the props guys,
Well I really cant be bothered to complain about the teefing rass tournament, but I would like to apologise the all the foreigners who made such an effort in coming to London only to get skanked I mean Londoners get SKANKED enough which is why their all so bloody moody, but to travel to London to get proper skanked is a crying shame.
I think the wisest people were the ones who didn’t enter Rza, KFC etc or didn’t come like Saur etc

Hey you all. So much has been said about the organizing, venue, delays, fire alarms and such; I don't have anything to add except that I agree. I'm going to think very carefully about attending an UK event from now on... Even though I really, really want to play you all again. Hopefully at someone's home-gathering or something, it would propably be much more enjoyable.

Ullysis SEEMED such a nice guy that I don't want to say anything extreme, but... Absolution was.. Horrible.

However, for me it was primarily a chance to see the top of Europe and meet new players and thankfully I got to do just that. Even if we did get ridiculously little time for casual play. I didn't know anybody's face beforehand and true names and such, so I apologize if I make a mistake here:

Ryan, you blew me away. The mention about a god-like status isn't too far fetched.. Thanks for the games and congratulations for your win!

Jun, it was a real blast to play against you and see you play. The Team-tourney final was just incredible!

Bugis_J, I was scared to play against you in the end.. Your Lion was just.. awesome. I didn't know how good you were until I played you in the top16. Congrats for the second place.

Genjin, your Jeff and other chars were solid and impressive, hope to play against you again some day.

Rock Howard and K4oru, it was really nice to meet you in person and play with/against you. Hopefully we meet again somewhere in better circumstances.

ShWoking, I didn't plan on getting owned by non-british/japanese players but you managed to pull that off in casual.. Impressive play.

FrenchAkira, good job on the vf SE, it was fun to play against you.

Kneeninja, you propably read me like a book in our matches. Supersolid play.

Optimus, it was really fun to see a really good Aoi player. Solid Wolf as well.

thePrince, same to you. Really impressive Aoi!

Stalwart, I didn't get to play against you but it looked like your Sarah was top stuff! And btw, I like your hairstyle /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

And even though he won't be reading this, INO, your Jacky was just.. exemplary. Beat me fair and square.

There's a lot of people whose face I don't remember, but I enjoyed meeting you all and hopefully we meet again someday!

okay this is gonna be a long post so sorry in advance..

first up this is my imprssions of everything that happened,

Firstly I know there was lots of complaints from lots of players about the running of the event, the conditions, no tv's, no chairs etc,
but I just wanna play both sides of the coin by first saying, organising an event of this size with players from all over the world
is a challebge to say the least, and Ulyysis (decent guy) has to be at least commended for trying to make something like this sound plausible, I mean when
do we ever get to see people like Daigo, Ino etc in the UK. But... (and a big butt /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif)

Having said that, with months of planning beforehand, and with all those cash funds, the event should have
been much much better, I'm not gonna go into the details of the complaints, cause others have and will say what they are, and I'll just be re-treading those grounds
all I can say is the event was made good for one reason and one reason only at the end of the day,
    the players,
(which makes me think next time a big torni like this should be organised by the players, just
a thought?...since we seem to know what we want innit!)
I feel embarassed from a UK viewpoint that all the peeps from overseas are gonna be disgusted by the UK scene and not wanna come back, if thats the case then the torni did more harm than good.... /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Also hated the way VF was treated, like some minor sub game /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif

First the results of the single event at VF:

3rd: Thr Prince, man your Aoi was on Fire, was so good to watch you bussing manz up, the setups and
the control when like 2 rounds down, the low throw finish!!! were epic /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif , Who says Aoi's shit!!

    2nd:
Congrats to Delune, solid, solid, play throughout the whole event, his knowledge of all characters
is unsurpassed /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif , was getting a bit tight for time there and money but I guess he got enough cash for his couch ride home.
You know he meant business when Lion came out, what a match in the quarters between him and my Team mate Knee ninja, literally
last few points of energy to decide it!
    Well done!

1st: Well done to Ryan for winning, know everyone would say it's expected but Delunge/Reverie etc, made him work for it. As usual Ryan showed us what torni play is all about, (all good playing good in casual's but you gotta bring it to torni's too). Excellent well deserved champion!

All throughout the single event I was really impressed by everyone's level of play, even though we had to play under them aforementioned terrible conditions
, I think the level was still good.

    Okay in no particular order:

    Team mates:

Knee ninja: !!! I though you had it man!! 2-0 against Delune/reverie 1 more round to get into semi's and then an awesome comeback, it was so close, just the matter of 1 or 2 hits!! Really represents for our Dojo!! Showed them other teams that Uramachi is on it's way up! Almost had a heartattack after that one!

Stalwart: Again represnted for our dojo in the quarters, annoyed people with his Sarah all day /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif , still think you could have beaten French Akira if you listened to my tactics /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Marky Baby: Thanks for helping us out in team battle, think you had a on off thing in the singles, but good experience, nice win against Ino in team battle, seeing as how he took out those team anything goes memebers /versus/images/graemlins/blush.gif /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Okay the guys who came from overseas, I just wanna first apologise (I know it's the organisers but I feel bad)
on behalf of the UK for the poor conditions, and making you wait around etc, I hope it didn't taint your view of London too much, hope all you guys got home safetly. Next time an event like this should be definitely organised by the players. Seeing you guys in action
shows the strength of European play, keep it up guys!

Ogi: Nice to meet you, sorry you felt ill, guess it's all those germs floating about in the London air! Really enjoyed watching your stylish Kage,
Archangel said he liked your Kage, and he Hates Kage with a veangence, so you must have really impressed him. Yeah I only played you once I think
in the casual team battle, you bust me up good and proper, next time I want revenge!! Anways hope you get well soon.

Showking: Friendly guy, with great command of the english language, even understoodd our slang /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif(shame my french aint up to standard)
Your play was really really fast! That match between your Pai and Ryan's Kage from before, was lightning!
Your lei fei dancing as well is just like Heruru's! /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif You and French Akira showed us that france also has tings when it comes to vf.

French Akira: Scary player, truly a solid lion, the semi final result speaks for itself, gave delune a run for his money, gets the thumbs up from me! (wish I got to play you)

Exypher: My man from the land of weed, cool guy, enjoyed watching your Sarah, you stayed competitive and considering there's only a small vf scene in holland you get kudos from me! /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Rock Howard: Really strong, your Goh was taking tings off the bar!! That name suits you well!

Manji Maru: You were the strong akira and wolf guy I think, bloody impressive!

    Plus other eurpoean guys who's name's I forgot. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

    Other Uk bums:

Beserker and Sham: Kinda felt sorry for the Colchester boys, your travel arangements too and the mess abouts, I think you could have played much better if it wern't for these factors, although I did see some tings by Beserker's Akira and Sham's lei. Try to make it down to London more often guys.

AA and BK : Seems you guys were also fucked up by the terrible conditions, saw AA play well in my group, I never got to play him and then he had to go, I say get your money back!BK heared you done well, you qualified but the schedule fucked you up too.

    (P.s if anyone see's a replay of BK destroying my Shun I wasn't playing properly /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif )

Colombo: Really thought this was his torni after he was up on Dai! As usuall one of the most solid torni players, and the sickest Jacky flowcharts.

Dai: As always up there with the best, saw tings from his Wolf and Lei.

VO: All I can say is you got skanked! £30, and you didn't qualify! Well at least you got some blood by beating our team! /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Jun: Incredible Wolf, that team battle final against Ryan was fucking awesome, high level in torni conditions! Taking out Looney tunes! /versus/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Jide: Looked like your Lion was goin from strength to strength, you have definitely come a long way since the first time I saw you play, put it this way your starting to make manz fear you /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

G-ho: thought you'd do so much better, next time! Your
still one of the best, just need to show it in torni.

Onny: As always cool Brad, nice Brad vs Brad
    matches with Jun.
Pinoy Jason: Proper solid lion, why no more shun?

Jeffahn: Keep that unorthodox style going, really confused some people!
King souther: didn't get to see you play much, but seems you were another player that the conditions didn't favour.

M Ippon, Omegaman, mooseman, : Southend guys, solid team, M ippon's lion was really looking good before the torni but again victims of the schedule!

Anyone I forgot sorry my memory's shit!

Remeber I got all the torni matches after group stages on my card, plus the incredible team battle,
expect them to be up gradually by the end of the week. (Knee can I use some of your webspace as well?)

If you think about if 20+ players paid £15/20 each to a few of the VF players to organise a tourney for the players, just for VF they ought to do a much better job. Over £300/400 to organise a tourney (and prize fund) for 1 game over 1 day. If the players don't organise any tourneys there are never gonna be any good ones for VF. This game just never gets any respect and I've heard Ullysis slag it off cause he can't understand it.

Dynamic League didn't have prize money incentive for the top players but entry was cheap and Burger King's basement was a good venue with discounted food for the players.

Hey guys, it pains me to read these reports where it seems that VF was treated no better than an after thought. Even though VF had the smallest turnout at EVO2003, it received no lesser treatment.

It was my understanding that Ryan was working closely with Ullysis to organise the VF side of things? How did things get so unorganised? Did they just grossly underestimate the time and resources required?

I really feel for those who travelled long distances for the event. But at the same time, you should never (if possible) book a return trip home on the same day of the event! Ever! /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ok i don`t have that much to say...

All in all this last weekend was very nice! I`ve met many people there playing VirtuaFighter on a nice level; it was so much fun to play with you guys!!! All have been very friendly...really all!
Well i wished we could have played more casual before the tournament; just had one match vs Ryan ( but ive enjoyed it with great intensity!).
The most casual matches before the finals were very cool; i see that i have to play more to make more routine into my game.......i wished i could have shown more...but thats the way it goes...

    To some people:

    Manjimaru:
For k4oru and me it was a great pleasure too! I hope we will see us again....lets stay in contact! Germany needs players like you!

    Jide:
Well, u surprised me man! You give foreigners an atmosphere of being welcomed, what is really nice! too bad u had to face Ryan so early ;P

    Onny:
Nice to saw a Brad-player on the tournament; i loved your med-rising attack counters...also your use of knees... what ive said about jide > same for you! Funny guy !

    Kneeninja:
I think we had a nice groupmatch man! Some kind of close and dramatic in the last round grrr.....in casual matches u have showed me who was the boss! Inspiring game with akira and jacky! Ur a smart and cool person!

    Ryan Hart:
Nice to met you; organizing the tournaments, playing and taking time for several players....good job ive to say! Kind and open like every UK-guy!
Impressive VF-demonstration > respect and congratz!

    Optimusomega:
Nice and cool man! Our matches were pretty cool as far as i remember....i love watching aoi-players of your kind!

    Stalwartsamurai:
Nice man! Quarterfinals with a cool sarah! Some kind of freshness for the character lineup in the finals ( too much lions for me ! ).

I really enjoyed playing with you and i hope it wasnt the last time!
Unfortunately the absolution in general was some kind of exhausting in an unnecessary way! The air was hot and thick; few chairs for so many people...and all this waiting for planned events....Many VF-players missed some casual play, because it was played on just 2 tvs before the tournament, and here were so many people.....not very comfortable! i hope next time i can show more of my Goh under better and comfortable conditions.
It was in spite of that it was a very nice experience to meet you all guys!

PS: All ive missed are honoured as well! ...Exypher...where have you been ???!!!!

Well i'm basically gonna start up with the negatives of Absoloution 2k4. The venue was rubbish, organisation was rubbish. The only thing that saved it was the general play from players.

Setups : I mean for Virtua Fighter 4 Evo there was only two ps2's out for it and one Tv which was black and white. You pay £15 fee for a game and i'm having to bring my own Ps2 down......
Apparently you get a discount if you provide hardware well i basically want £10 pay pal'd to me ASAP.
There was 8 games or more games being played at the event, why was there not at least 1 projector so when everybody wanted to see the finals of each game everybody could get a decent view. Instead of crowding around some lame 20 inch tv.

Venue : You'll see some pictures of it soon enough but this should have been the venue for the film boiler room. It was pathetic when people were paying £20+ from at least 100 or more entrants.

I could go on talking about the negatives but i can't be bothered so i'll guess i'll talk about what i went for Virtua Fighter 4 Evo. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    European Players

Exypher : Finally nice to see you come down with your sarah and getting owned in casual play when i do come to NL no more chances /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif. I'm glad you enjoyed everything apart from the tourney and it was damn shame you couldn't get to play.

Shwoking : What can i say i guess your pai is too damn sexy. I honestly feared playing your pai and at times i couldn't even keep up with her. I didn't get too play you much and it's a shame you and french akira had to play each other.

French Akira : Nice to so many lions in a VF tourney for once. Yours lion play is really cool i learned a few things and the tempo of how you play is really fast. Didn't get to see much of your vannessa. Again sorry you couldn't play for your third place.

Rock Howard : Nice to see a Goh player in the tourney and your goh was very nice in casual play. Heh your goh gave me huge amount of troubles and me thinking his stomp throw was down instead of DF. Sorry i told you to come early on sunday i honestly thought it would start on time but i'm sure you played alot in casual.

Ogi : Nice to finally meet you and your kage. I believe you were being modest about your Kage and it seems very sharp. I think we only played once in the tourney and you almost had me. Shame you was very ill and you could pretty much see it on your face. I hope you got a 10001 tactics from Ryan /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    I know i'm missing a few people i apologise /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Highlight of Abs for me was the team tourneys everybody was into it and even Ino came to play Izu joining in the chants. I seemed to losen up when there was less pressure. Watching at least a Japanese player playing VF(Ino).

Worst moment : Freezing up against Ryan probably the easiest match he had to play. I felt really gutted and felt liking quitting VF right there and then,. I honestly felt like going home after that battering. But i stuck it out i guess....

Some really super play from all of the UK guys, so tense and congrats to the winners /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Anyway thoughts regarding on this tourney i hope that one day vf gets a tournament it truly deserves and a decent arcade cabinet /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

P.S if the pictures don't show up for you it's probably because i've run out of Bandwidth /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well Myke there was less people entering in the actual tourneys so time must have been shorter. Badly organised it's a VF day so why is there ps2's being used for other games... infact there was a lack of ps2's for people to practice on.

One thing is for sure whole event was a complete let-down. Sound - and looked - pretty sad that it just turned into a big play session rather than an event.

Oh well... Look out for something big and better. A few here knows what I'm talking about.

If the tournament was a free then there wouldn't be any problems. I could say so many things which was wrong in Absolution but I'll save it by proving my theories and experience to everyone.

    That's all... For now...
