Im a new member , and from reading different post's Ive decided to get an arcade stick. I was wondering what everyones opinion is on the official Dreamcast stick. I can buy an adapter to make it work on the ps2 but Ive never used an Arcade stick on a console before. So my question is how would this one stack up against others? <font color="green"> </font color> <font color="green"> </font color> <font color="][/color"> akira316@msn.com

The Agetec Dreamcast stick is one of the best on the market. Its Japanese style with a 4 way gate, the buttons are rounded, not flat like those of the Namco arcade stick or Tekken Tag stick. Overall the stick is big, but its not heavy.

Down the road in about two to three years, if a button gives out on you, its really easy to swap them around inside (swap the B and C buttons to a place they would be more used like A or X).

Overall, a very fine stick. Id rank it 3rd best Ive used overall. The optical pickup Capcom Vs SNK stick for Dreamcast is probably my favorite followed by Namco's PSX arcade stick (Yellow buttons, charcoal base, came packaged with Soul Edge optionally).

Yeah, I would like to know about this converter also and how much it would cost. I have gotten used to the agetec sticks and it would greatly save me money than buying new arcade sticks.

If there isn't such a converter have anybody used the X-arcade stick and how does it feel (saw it in tekken zaibatsu)? Its pretty expensive but I like the idea that you can just buy only a converter so that it can be used for any system. Also they have spare parts you can purchase if any part of the controller is broken.

Honestly, I think there is no such thing as a DC to PS2 adapter, although it would be a pretty wise move for someone to make one.

There is a converter that goes from the ps2 controller to the DCast . If you splice the ends you can run DC controller to the ps2. If you have 2 old ps2 controllers you can cut the ends and run them together. /versus/images/icons/shocked.gif

You can get DC to USB adaptors, though these are designed for PC's and require driver software, and I haven't used any USB input devices on PS2 so I couldn't say if this is possible.

Wait a sec here, now dont go about splicing wires together haphazardly like that! Bad things can happen to your PS2.

I dont know if there is an adapter or not, there are lots of PS2 to DC adapters, and some PS2 to Xbox ones. It generally works as most known console to other consoles is how the adapters are made.

The USB port... Im pretty sure this wont work either. The USB ports need to be used by the software your running on PS2 for them to work. VF4 does not use these and doesnt even support the multitap (for plugging a 2nd controller into, must use actual 2p port). So, Id count this out.

Now, if you really want to convert a stick to PS2 there are ways to do it. But, not by splicing the ends of a PS2 controller to a Dreamcast one. What you must do is gut the Dreamcast stick, so that only the buttons and stick remain. Then, get the guts of a PS2 controller and connect the individual button leads to the ones in the Dreamcast stick. (this is annoying work indeed) This way, the chip that interfaces with the PS2 is preserved, and it will function. Remember, its not like every button has its own wire that runs through that cord to the console. The signals are encoded digitally and sent in a form of rapid pulses. Each console pretty much uses a different "code" that allows the console to interpret the pulses into the corresponding buttons being pressed.

For maximum compatibility, use the guts of a Dual Shock controller (one or two, doesnt matter). This way it will work with the PS2 to Xbox adapters and all PS2 to USB ones.
