TBZone has uploaded an Akira Combo vid as performed by ....ShinZ. It was actually more interesting than I expected. It is about 30 megs so it could stand some compression but still a good clip (not sure whats with the Metallica music though....)

http://www.tbzone.co.kr/tz_akira_combo_vol1.avi

On a slightly related note, it seems that TBZone's download section is finally back up.

I wont even try to download that on a 33.6 modem (dont ask - long story). So could you please say what the combos are? damage done and what moves are in the combo.

I know this is kinda shitty having told us where the damn thing is to now say what it looks like, but have a heart, if it was 10 Megs then I would actually stand a chance, but 30...

Just lend a hand hunh fella

[*][3][3][P] CH, [P][G] (wall), QCB+[P] - dmg: 79
[/list]

Notes: Some of the hits did not require a CH, but the damage calculated from it made me include it.

I didn't bother with "open / closed stance only."

As the "(wall)" convention is rather vague, you'll have to see the vid to understand the spacing.

I may have not used "all" of these Akira abbreviations, and I may have also used some antiquated abbrevations. I hate using these VF "abbreviations"... WHY ARE THERE SO DAMN MANY!? Is "DJK" really that much quicker to write than "f,f+K,K?" And how the hell is "StDbPm" an abbrevation of "QCB+P?" WTF. It's unnecessarily complicated, just like the Japanese language itself! /versus/images/icons/mad.gif

Legend for those who don't feel like learning these "abbreviations":

SgPm - [2_][6][P]
DbPm - [2_][4][6][P]
StPm - [4][6][P]
ShRm - [2_][6][P]+[K]
DJK - [6][6][K][K]
LLP - [3][P]+[K]
DE - [6][6][P]
SDE - [6][6][6][P]
BC, DBC - [4][6][6][P]+[K]
ST - [4][2][P]+[G]
SpEx, SE - [1][P]+[G]

And of course,

SPoD - [P]+[K]+[G],[4][3][P]+[G],[6][P]
DLC - [3][K]+[G],[6][P],[4][6][6][P]+[K]

Damn. Great job there. I was actually gonna sit down and transcribe the combos myself but I hadn't had a chance to get to my comp. Excellent job though. Even with the abbreviations /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif

Hi. I just downloaded this clip but I'm having a problem with viewing the video itself. It said that I'm missing a compressor. I need help please.

I'm having the same problem. It won't work with my versions of WMP or Quicktime. I can only hear the sound.

anyone got any ideas?

You need DivX decoder (www.divx.com). Install that and you should be able to watch the video on WMP.

I think it's a kewl video complilation and whatnot, but those aren't really anything fascinating. Not trying to downplay Akira Kid's skill or anything, I see most of those combos daily when fighting against Akira's - and not necessarily high level.

The only one I had not seen is the instant death, or whatever that thing is, just after a wall stagger -- that was pretty nice.

thanks, triple lei, saved me the trouble of downloading as well; there are people in the world who still don't have DSL or CABLE yet...

anyways, i find writing VF abbreviations for me to be easier and faster than writing the move commands. also, StDbPm is an abbreviation for QCB+P because for a time the QCB+P used to be known as the standing double palm; now it's just overhead double palm, but in any case, i picked up the habit and so i always call the QCB+P StDbPm myself.

btw, wouldn't really say the abbreviations are complicated, a lot of them are just initials of the move's names. of course, learning the move names...

and yeah, kinda agree with you there gajinpunch; akira's combos aren't exactly flashy, although they're still powerful and often times hard to do. still give props to shinz for making the vid. a LOT of those combos look like they've been done before. what i would love to see is an akira combo exhibition featuring combos that use OTBs, y'kno, for show.

anyways, i find writing VF abbreviations for me to be easier and faster than writing the move commands.

I think both ways have their merits. I think it's easier to write "LBF" or "DBC" than using the instant commands ([3]+[P]+[K] or [4][6][6_]+[P]+[K]). But I do like the instant commands, because they are more helpful to anyone new to VF. And then there's numerical notation (3PK or 466PK...I hope that's right /versus/images/icons/confused.gif ). Pick your poison and move on, I guess. /versus/images/icons/wink.gif

Gripes over move notation could be a different thread altogether, so I'll just stop before I start.

And thanks to Triple Lei for the combo list. It's a big help to us 56K modem users. /versus/images/icons/blush.gif

Use Virtualdub if U got problems viewing it eg frame skipping.
(but U'll need to get codec too)

BTW any Lei Fei combo vids available on the net? /versus/images/icons/grin.gif
