Probably only relevant for those of us currently playing in JP, but...

AM2 is currently having a survey about VF4E:

    http://www.sega-am2.co.jp/vf/

They ask you questions about your play style, favorite characters, combos, techniques, etc. It only takes a little bit of time to fill out, but they do ask for your VF.net info, so have that on hand.

On top of that, after finishing the form you get to compete for fabulous prizes! ...Well, maybe just some Genkyuu or a special title. (I opted for the special title contest myself.)

I've only seen two players around here with Genkyuu, BTW. Are they that rare?

Yes, they're that rare. Honestly, I saw more during the beta test. I know one guy with one, and then I've seen Neo Tower with 4. I lost the few shreds of respect I had for one of the best Jacky players around (Neo Tower) when I found out he uses a 'sub' card -- for saving genkyuu's, and playing in tournaments. Seems a bit cowardly if you ask me.

How are Genkyus won in VF4E anyway? They don't seem to transfer that easily from what I've seen on clips. Like Chibita losing and keeping his single white genkyu.

You have to already have an orb to be able to take someone elses.

My Jacky-using teammate doesn't seem to hold in in high regard, either, but mostly because he doesn't like NT's play style.

In any case, do they randomly hand out Genkyuu when you start a card like in the past?

You can get a genkyu the old way (new card or renewing a card) or also in a prize match. And yes, you have to have one before you can steal one -- generally means less money for the game centers, as there won't be 50 matches for one genkyu until someone gives up or the shop shuts down, but less money for people auctioning them for $100 a pop. I think that was Sega's idea.

    Sounds very fair to me.
No risk (no genkyuu to lose), no gain (genkyuu to win).
