without further ado, it's my pleasure to present the footage from an epic event in the history of US VF, and VF outside of Japan.

For anyone who doesn't know, we here in LA, and those that could travel, have been hosting (along with the staff of the Evolution 2003 Tournament, and much support from Aqua Rouge, Arcadia Magazine, and Beat Tribe) the biggest invasion of Japanese since Pearl Harbor. None other than Oshu Akira, Kofu Megane, Nuki, Neo Tower, and Chibita have come to meet the VF players of America, and brought much good will and love with them.

Also coming over were Sawatari-san of Arcadia Magazine, Yamagishi-san of Beat Tribe/Aqua Rouge (the commentator for nearly every major VF tourney, and all BT Cup videos), and many others, such as Ino, Matsuda, Daigo etc...

The bridge has been crossed between our world and theirs, and everyone is better for it. May the bond never be broken, as I'm feeling this is the beginning of a new era for us, but we have to come out and SUPPORT it people. There should have been twice as many US heads at Evo.

Evo built it, They came, and most of You missed it... I'm not trying to be a dick, but if we want them to come back, we have to give them a reason. Each time should be bigger and better, and people who don't want to play anywhere but their own city, at their own gatherings, that's just bullshit. It's rude to them. I know it's easy for me, as I live here, but I also made it to TiT. MAD PROPS to my spicy homies from the other big LA for also making both events, and the guys from CO, and Tim from St. Louis, and the big homie from NYC with the heart to come out again "good shit"... Sorry if I missed anyone, you know who you are, and you know I've got love for ya!

So, no more ranting. The clips are:

    1. a lead in-clip that shows some shots of the tourney, the after tourney congrats/photo-session, and the super-after party (look close and you'll see Ohsu, Neo, and Yamagishi chilling US style)

then the tourney clips: there were 8 players left after the 4 pools, and they were seeded winners and loosers, with Myke, Ohnuki, MadDogJin, and NeoTower going into the final 8 with 1 loss, and Ohsu, Chibi, Ryan, and Kofu having no losses, so the first 4 guys only get one shot, and they're out. All the clips are #'d in order from the beginning of the finals to the end, so if you watch them with those #'s, you'll see it as we did.

First match: Ryan Hart vs Kofu Megane, winners bracket.

there's 2 clips here, due to the extremely dubious loss given to Kofu, because someone pushed start during the 2nd match. Judges say that they couldn't determine who pushed it, so they gave the win to Ryan... I guess because he won the first match?

Kofu actually won the second match, and the button was pressed at a totally non-important moment (after a combo was finished, pre-tech roll), so I don't get it. If I were there, I'd drop out of the tourney before I took a win I didn't truly earn, especially to someone as good and as cool as little Kofu is. But, hey, that's me.

Second Match, Oshu Akira versus Chibita, winner's bracket

This one's just awesome, and the first clip's a little long as 3 people are actually introduced pre-fight, enjoy

    /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

There's 3 clips to this fight, in order.

Thanks to SG for hosting these and putting them up. Round 1, Ready... GO!

PS sorry for the screaming and talking so close to the camera, we couldn't help ourselves

Fucking awesome, watching those clips just gives me the Goosebumps or wtf you call it.
It seems that the crowd were really getting into the whole thing, and also funny to listen to the dude who filmed and the people standing around him.

    Thanks for the clips! /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just right-click and Save as... works perfectly. Downloads using GetRight, FlashGet and DAP also work nicely, so I don't know what your problem might be.

thanks for the media, spotlite. Those were great.

Regarding the pause thing. I have no idea how an organizer can say "We don't know who did it" and then penalize a player (or reward a player). That's complete nonsense.

next batch made, and ready to go...

this time it's looser's bracket, with:

Third Match: our own Myke! versus Nuki, three fights here

good stuff, and tons of cheering. Watching these clips in order, you can really feel the tension build. In the final match here, all the people who were cheering Myke seconds before are dead silent, on edge during the fight...

Fourth Match: Mad Dog Jin versus Neo Tower

check out the debacle with the Burned Disk the game was being played on up until this point!

That's all for now... SG should have all these in the next few hours, so hold on until then. Again, I recommend watching everything in order for maximum fun.

After that, it's Chibi again, fighting his way through the loosers bracket!

I believe there was a very nice announcement made by the cannons aka the people responsible for japan showing up asking people not to release any vids of this event. It was okay to tape for personal reviewing but putting them up onlne was out. Yet first thing you guys do when you get home is put up matches from the final 8. I mean people werent happy with the vf community anyway now you go and do this. so much for vf at evo next year good job guys.

People weren't happy with the VF community? Why? Because we didn't get drunk, start fights, get high and get taken out on stretchers/arrested ?

Honestly, the videos that SRK are worried about are the MvC2 finals, the CvS2 finals, etc. You can't force someone to not put a video online. Although we hopefully got more people into VF with our appearance in the tournament, it's not like VF vids are going to prevent people from buying the DVD.

I know that DVDs are the main source of SRK's revenue, but they need to put something 'special' on them for me (or other people) to want to buy them. As of now I don't really care about the other footage, I just want to see VF.

I think if it is financially possible, SRK should just split the games onto VCDs or something... I would buy the VF only VCD to support, but I'm not paying 20+ bucks for a DVD that I'm only going to watch 1/8th of.

Edit: Well... I guess it's probably better to take them down, for the principle of the thing. Looking forward to dropping $ on the DVD now ... *sigh*

    Re: Myke! Myke! Myke! Myke!

Well, I don't know anything about this... I've never seen any message from the "cannons" about not putting up media.

But, in the interest of keeping our relationship with the Evo people good, I'm gonna see what's up. I won't put anything else up until I have the OK from the Evo people.

But, I have to say, they tourney doesn't BELONG to any one person or group, no matter who organized it. For christ's sake, most of the finals were played on MY PS2! And who paid for everything? Everyone who entered.

    Spotlite

Lonely Figter: yeah, I'm also interested in hearing what the "weren't happy with the VF community anyway is all about".

    Re: Myke! Myke! Myke! Myke!

    okay guys...

For the time being, I'm gonna have to ask SuperG to take down the clips...

I'm sorry, but I didn't know they weren't into us putting up media, and I want to keep relations between us ans SRK/the Evo people good.

So, until further notice, the media should be taken down, please.

SuperG: this runs the risk of making ME look really bad, so please do it, okay?

    Thanks, and sorry guys

I can understand wanting to keep a strong relationship with them, and I respect taking down the clips.

I would like to know more about why "I mean people werent happy with the vf community anyway". Any news on this?

    cheers,
