Arcade clicking sound

Hello everyone. I'm interested in switching to arcade stick controllers on my PS3. The only problem - that I've already experienced with previous consoles and sticks, is the annoying clicking sound the stick does (it totally take my concentration away, can't play seriously with it).

I've read somewhere that "unless you get an optical stick, you're always going to have clicks."

So.. any ideads where can I get a non-clicking arcade stick? Are there models don't make click?

Thank you in advance, VFDC Community.

If you're talking about japanese sticks, the only model that I know that it's optical it's the Sanwa Flash stick, but trying to find one is a real problem, as they are no longer being produced.

After a while, you won't even notice the clicking sound. In fact, you might even learn to love it!

Seriously, if you want to get good at using a joystick but your concentration is broken by the clicking sound, then you have bigger issues to deal with! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Also try increasing the volume of your TV to drown out the clicks.

Yeah Plague and Myke are right, no way you notice that clicking after a while. It only happens when you rolling inputs anyway doesn't it? Like circular motions... maybe i'm remembering wrong /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

Sound of the microswitches clicking is part of Virtuafighter like roaring engines are part of formula 1.

Against some players, the click will be your most dangerous foe :p

At first clicking joysticks used to bother me as I grew up using American type sticks in arcades. American arcade cabinets come equipped with Happ controls which don't make too much noise. Also when I played fighting games really late at night when I lived my family I was concerned the noise would disturb their sleep.

You might want to invest in getting a Happs Competition (microswitches with circular gate) or go with a Happs Perfect 360 (optical stick, no microswitches). You can read more about joystick types here. http://www.arcadeinabox.com/joysticks.html

You can also order a custom stick from them at http://www.arcadeinabox.com I have one and it works great!

Throughout the years of playing VF I prefer to use Sanwa sticks and have grown fond of the clicking noise. Its an audio cue that lets me know that my inputs are registering. I live on my own now so a clicking joystick isn't bothering anybody. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

The clicking noise could also keep you from getting lost in gatherings. Just follow the clicking noises and you'll find VFers for sure /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

First of all, thank you all for the opinions.

Maybe I'm worrying too much. Maybe my old arcade stick (for PS1) did noises beyond acceptable. Not sure, but from what I can tell, the "Sanwa JLF" is my choice. Besides the custom sticks from the arcadeinabox, I've noticed that famous brands like Hori use that kind of stick. Maybe I should read more reviews about the sticks and worry less about its noise.

Yeah, and actually what Plague said it's the ultimate true: when you're fully concentrated into the game and hearing the sound and music, you won't even notice those clicks!

BTW, I consider myself a clicking microswitch fan!
