I just can't understand how the hell can SF IV be considered to have the best graphics. It seems to me that they could have easily been done on the Wii. One of the few things that I believe SF4 is missing out on is graphics (apart from character design).

The Character Design is why Capcom (SFIV) won Best Graphics.

Can I also tell everyone that there was a corruption of VF5 with the release of VF5R at 24th July, 2008. It would've been higher on the chart.

    Bob is No.2. Perfect.

That crap "Samurai Spirits Zen" beats out VF5R on the readers choice awards.....Wow! SNK better use the KOFXII engine for the next Samurai Showdown game.

SF4 looks like crap unless you're actually playing it or viewing it in real time. Youtube and pictures don't do it justice. Game looks pretty good graphically, and I once thought it looked horrible, I must say the character select portraits are very nicely done I really like those the most.

Bob is the shit, that's a cool and funny design at the same time.

^ still looks like crap in real time, SF3 looks better and that's like 10 or 12 years old now.

When I compare it to a 3d game SF4 doesn't look all that great to me. However, when I compare it to any 2d game out right now then yea it looks really good and that in itself is saying something. A 2d game that looks so good that I can even consider comparing it to SC4, VF5 and Tekken 6

I'd say the sprites on 3S, especially Chun's, are extremely well done. But still, they're just sprites.

The game is very smooth, but alot of the character models look horrible IMO, like Ken, Ryu, C.Viper(No fucking hips!)Vega, Chun Li, Guile and Abel. By looking at the the gallery, it seems they were inspired by that horrible art used for the SNES SFII. You could see they calm done with the "crazy anatomy" with characters like Cammy, Sakura and Rose. Characters like, Honda, Sagat, Bison, Balrog, Zangief, Fei Long, Dhaslim and Seth, fit very well with that "Gears Of War" look they went with.

I agree with T6Br being 2nd. i must admit its lots of fun now. even with all the gimmick.

I'm going to go ahead and say: no.

Cammy looks the best imo, followed by Balrog and Gen.

I think it was regular Tekken 6, if it was BR it'd probably be #1 easily. Vanilla T6 supposedly had some issues that got worked out for BR. I guess like 5 to R.

Character designs are better in SF3, amount of frames in the animations are higher so the animations look a lot better. Backgrounds look better... what else is there to compare?

... or is this case of 2D racism?!

The effect on the characters when doing focus attacks is about the only decent looking thing in SF4 but I guess polygons are autowin.

I'm sure this is just a case of 2d racism

The important thing isn't the prettiness of the art, but the soul to me. SF4's art does have soul, even if it doesn't look as pretty as high-end 2d art.

That said, that art is expensive ,and companies have to make a profit.

IMO the character design in SF4 is FREAGIN HORRIFIC. Especially some of the ones ShinobiFist pointed out. Ken i.e. who was pretty cool in SF3, in SF4 looks like such a freagin dweeb, aside from the gorilla-refrigerator mixed body of his...damn what a geek they made out of him...he should be renamed Captain Harvard.

Most of the girls look ok...except of course for C. Viper who looks like an SNK character gone wrong...her boobies look like an ass (all equipped with a G-string) and her hips look all freagin weird like she is wearing a mini version of Magneto undies.

Anyways, character design should have nothing to do with the graphics which are 3D, and horrible 3D gfx at that, and the backgrounds bring back N64 memories. This is unacceptable for such a title as Street Fighter.
The gameplay is all good...but the gfx imo induce puke contests.

Seriously? Seriously!? I thought that was the one thing even the SF4 haters admired. The backgrounds in this game are above and beyond any I've ever seen in a fighting game. Period.

yeah man, I know what you mean. Kens arms nearly made me vomit, I even considered playing in standard definition so I wouldn't notice them as easily.

  20. Sidna7

    Sidna7 Well-Known Member

Ken's arms are a fusion of gorilla muscle fibers and cellulite.

Do you mean to tell me that the backgrounds are of the highest polygon count and whatnot that you have ever seen in a fighter, or are you referring to the aesthetics aspect?
I think the SF4 bgs are decent in design, but I also think that there are more polygons to be found in a VF5 palm tree than in a whole SF4 stage (I’m over exaggerating but I think you get my point).
