Backturned attacks are cool!

All right - it may be foolish but I am loving Lau's back turned attacks. It's like a whole new guy after all these fights!

After a normally uneventful /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif I'm buffering in the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif or the even crazier /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif - of course they both leave Lau back turned but if they aren't sidestepped give you his /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif (nice), /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (fast) and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (old standby). I have to say it's shaking things up and proving to be a nice mix in the flow.

In other news, my Lau has been getting a little predictable so I'm practicing bounce combos from his /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. From videos I've seen it seems like he can do it from a lot of hits. (right Matt?)

Honestly - it will be nice when the game hits the XBox360. I'm playing with a friend on our work PSS3 and I can't wait till I can practice and play at home.

I know, I know - I should get my lazy ass to Plague's eh?

 

Nice stuff, I figured Lau's BT had to really good since Matt always likes to set up for it.

When 360 comes out, you and me can meet up too, since I live a lot closer to OC (irvine in particular) than Plague does.

As for Lau - yah - I guess they want him to do a couple things from backturned since he (and Pai) both have attacks which do not turn them back around. It really does add to the guessing game. I do Lau's donkey kick thing from backturned /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif and normally get the backturned /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif sweep if I miss.

I regret crutching Lau's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif so much but damn it's good. If you play Lau like I think he is meant to be played (agressive and with pressure) then you won't lose much doing that move since you don't hesitate in BT long.

I've had a few losses to good Laus and always felt "Damn, where did all my life go? He only hit me with a couple strings and a throw or two."

Speaking of throws - how awesome is his /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif? Ending a match on that little gem is so worthwhile, especially if you do it as a rush-in after an opponent whiffs a get up kick. If you can crouch dash well you're probably better off with the more damaging /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif or my all time fave - the whamma jamma thing he does for /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif.

Does anyone ever use his stumble throw /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif as a tactic?

Lau can be so fun.
