Begging SEGA for a VF5:FS STEAM port (...Petition)

With SEGA bringing games like Binary Domain, JSR, Sonic Generations, etc... To PC, I thought it might not be far fetched for them to bring one of their biggest digital releases this year.

I'm fully aware of the size of the fighting community on PC, however, I think there might be a good opportunity for them considering there aren't really any notable 3D fighting games on STEAM, no competition.

In anycase, I believe there is a decent chance SEGA will bring this game to PC, even if they outsource it to another team to port it (which they will probably do)

If you have the time, please spread the petition link and sign it!

It might happen when console release hit big sells. Negative to mention FS is a digital download and we all understand what's the meaning behind this move.

I don't think this will happen, nor do I believe there's enough of an upside for Sega to make a PC version at this point. That will take more effort, and effort costs money.

I think there's just not a large enough audience for FS on CPU, they'd just lose money almost guaranteed. Consoles have become in expensive enough that I think it's worth getting one for FS. Plus, you're going to want to play online and possibly use a nice stick while you do it. Both of those things are going to be way easier, and probably a better experience overall, on console.

I think Rikitatsu is on to something. I think having a moddable VF would be pretty amazing, given that's the major advantage PC gaming has over console. People could potentially adjust aspects of the game we dislike through mods, add things -- and we won't be stuck with a console version that's tied down to Xbox Live's servers, which get shut down all the time for certain games. The thing is, JP devs have never been that friendly to mods even on PC releases, so it would be a major step toward that outlook, when even the American ones are stepping away in favor of only selling DLC.

I doubt the graphics hardware required to run VF5 would be too intensive, the lindbergh is about as old as the PS3 now, right?

The thing is, the Lindbergh (and Taito Type X2, which actually runs a variant of Windows) is just a purpose-built PC. Sega's always had a sort of tentative desire to get their games out on PC, so maybe we'll luck out, maybe not.

How about you be grateful they are doing this on console at all. Yeah right they should make a Steam port, and two hours later it'll be cracked and downloadable on bit torrent, pirated. People only ask for games to be put on PC so they can download the torrent and get it for free.

Contrary to popular opinion,Sega isn't stupid. This isn't happening. You would make better use of your time writing a petition to get Virtua Fighter 6 on PC at launch. VF 3TB, Vf4, Evo, or Vf5 haven't been on PC. Why would they start now with an expansion to a five year old game? You'd have an easier time Petitioning for a Wii version of FS.

Except you can't play online with a pirated version, which is what 99% of the people getting the game will want to do with it. At best the pirated version would be some sort of extended demo. I don't think it would hurt sales much, if at all.

Also, I find your comment about people asking for a PC port just so they can pirate to be extremely misguided. I have a pretty nice PC, that can easily outdo consoles in terms of performance. A lot of people do. I got Sonic Generations for the PC because it's the only platform that plays it at 60fps. I generally prefer to get the PC version of a game unless it has notable issues from being a sloppy port. Sure people pirate games on the PC, but they buy them too. If they didn't game sales for PC games would be non-existent.

Piracy wouldn't be an issue with the PC version -- it would be getting players on PC to care at all, since PC isn't the traditional platform for fighters.

And yes, those Steam sales are quite profitable regardless. Sega released Sonic Generations and a few other games in the past, and the deep discounts on Steam got me to buy a couple of those games. Modders have also begun work on custom levels in Sonic Generations, although it was not an intended feature of the game. Keep in mind the game could run at native 1080p and above because of how PC games work, so it would look even sharper than the console version.

I think Jet Set Radio is getting a port, too, right? I can't remember exactly.

Think about it: PC gamers have even gotten Namco to consider releasing Dark Souls on PC, so don't discount the idea altogether.

Thanks for signing everyone, but to share and spread the link is important as well.

As for piracy, the same can be said about pretty much all PC games at the moment, except games like VF5:FS has its online mode as one of its biggest appeals... so that's something.

One can be grateful this is on console, but wish for a PC port also.

If this and Skullgirls made PC, I could sell my PS3 and not miss anything that much (well, KOF a little bit)

I heard the Lindbergh's architecture is close to a PC, is that true?

    It may make porting easier.

Not sure how easy it would be, as Lindbergh runs Montavista, a discontinued Linux distro...

Ages ago found, in the internet, an image of VF5 vanilla from japanese arcades(there's people trying to emulate lindbergh). It was on .iso, but can't be read on windows. Linux only...

Anybody here posts at NeoGAF? It seems that forum is always monitored by industry people, including SEGA community managers and developers, not to mention its a pretty popular board.

It seems like the best place to post this petition, if anyone has an account, then I hope you post it there (even if it was in their VF5:FS official thread)

I'm fairly certain they monitor this site too, but it definitely couldn't hurt. I have a feeling that SEGA might not port this for steam just because they wouldn't want people modding their game. However people might end up making a new version of VF that plays like the April fools joke video which would be kinda awesome.

Signed. I'm a major PC gamer. I only use consoles for fighting games right now, so I'm not too invested in console games a handful of games.

Not only am I a major PC game, but I'm also a developer for handheld and the PC platforms, so if there's anything related to fighting games and PCs, it grabs my attention.

It might not be modable as some might think, most Console ports are usually very hard to mod.
