Being smart about desperation moves

Hi all to my fellow Sarah Peeps,

So some moves seem a little "too" powerful and I've noticed that a lot people resort to them once I've started to really gain an advantage. I was thinking it might be nice to discuss strategies regarding baiting, defending and punishing certain desperation moves. Also, it may be good to talk about some of Sarah's desperation moves to boot!

Two that come to mind immediately for me are Jacky's Flip Kick and Akira's Body Check. How have you guys been handling them? So far, I just have playing very safe by using moves that still let me fuzzy guard on block, frame trapping them (which sometimes backfires online), or literally just evading like crazy. I was curious if other people had a more methodical approach to handling stuff like this?

    Cheers!

Play moral and those moves won't cause you as many problems.

Fair enough [IMG] as that is sound advice.

However, I was thinking particular things that may beat those options or specific things to do or monitor.

Most desperate moves are fast and big damage... and horribly punishable. Both somersault and bodycheck are (-26 and -32). Just block them and then unleash your bigest combostarter on them.
I think this is the best "particular thing" that may beat them.

Eh Jacky's kick flip may end up hitting you once in a match if you aren't looking for it, but it's easy enough to block it. Akira's body check is a little harder to deal with but I have only ate it on CH once. I am always looking out for the kick flip against jacky players, so the best advice would be to play on the defensive side in these situations. Just my opinion though.

Best punish I could come up with for Akira body check is:

[1][K] -> [6][P]+[K],[P],[6] -> FS [P],[P],[K] for 87 damage on minor counter hit without any walls

Was wondering if anyone has something else that's better?

Can also be used against Jacky's Back flip, but you should buffer the [1][K] with a forward dash for a little to get close enough for the [1][K] to hit

Anyone know a good counter to Kage's running flip kick BS? Ya know the one. The player starts from the other side of the stage, runs full speed, then does 2 backflips and that spinning drill kick thingy.

The last hit is quite easy to sidestep. But, punishing it seems to be impossible. Since he's basically laying on the ground after the last hit, nothing hits him but low attacks. But, apparently they don't count as counters.

Any good ways to punish that annoying move?
