1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. Hey all. Haven't touched this series since VF3 & it was sparingly then. I tend to lean toward speed characters as well as characters who've got moves which are easy to execute. I'm more of a pick-up-&-play type guy. Any advice on what I should do or avoid?

My primary characters at the moment are:

    El Blaze
    Jacky
    Eileen

I use the latter two as my secondaries off & on, I switch between them pretty regularly.

I don't know that I would describe any character in VF as good for "pick-up and play"... the game is just built to reward dedication and practice.

That said, I would say Jacky and Eileen are both good choices for what you've described, Jacky is just all around simple, fast, and strong, except possibly for iaigeri combos. Eileen has some weird stance things she can do, but the shortest movelist in the game means she tends to reward memorization of obscure move properties a little less than some other choices. El Blaze possibly, too. Lau tends to also be a fairly simple, fast, powerful character, that might fit. Honestly, I want to say Jeffry as well. Most people tend to describe him as slow, but he's got a 12-frame low punch and a 14-frame mid same as everyone else, so I've never really been sure what that means, and he's definitely near the top in terms of simple gameplay that can completely overwhelm people with massive damage when he's used correctly.

Just to clarify, are you intending this as a "what character should i play" post (in which case, theres already a thread for that)

Or are you asking "I've played VF before, but not 5. What changes should i watch out for?"

Pretty much the latter question. I've got a pretty good idea of characters to remove from my list. Still confirmation is always welcome.

I guess in reference to that clarification, I'd say you'll find any character easier to pick up. They basically made execution easier for every character in VF5. For example, Akira's new simpler DLC variant input. I think you'll find the game's focus has been shifted even more onto needing good strategy/timing over spending time learning how to input difficult moves and combos.
