Correct use of reject wall.

If he had this move in previous VF incarnations then I have no doubt this will have been fairly well discussed at one point or another.

But seeing as I have no previous VF experience I figured that I may as well ask.

    Anyway, I digress.

The reject wall; a move which I use occasionally but rarely to great effect.

Whenever I use the reject wall of a string of punches I always know I would have been better off blocking them.

I have recently started watching for the last punch in a string to use it on so that I have the minimum amount of damage and maximum amount of frame advantage. Unfortunately my experience with the game is still low so I don't know strings at sight yet, thusly the effectiveness of this approach is drastically hindered.

Now onto the attacks you can perform from the reject wall.

The punch follow up seems to be pointless, it often gets beat out by whatever comes next from a fast character.

The catch grab rarely works for me, I would work it in more often if I found out how some character strings end but, as stated above, I'm yet to really know the Virtua Fighter characters.

The kick seems to work occasionally unless they are throwing out some fast mids. It ducks under highs which is great and is therefore the only move from the reject wall which I find worthwhile.

    Any comments or advice?

Just the thing, that as far as the K is v.good, when you know the strings, and do it well, then the P from reject wall is GREAT! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
I usually continue with a surprise throw or a mid after the punch (great adv.)

So the only way to truly master the reject wall is to know the other characters?

I guess I have some command training to look forward to tonight...

As for the punch, if they just mash out another fast high/mid string then how are you supposed to follow up?

If you go for a grab you end up in a clash and if you try for a mid punch you'll likely get beaten due to Wolf's speed.

Don't do it unless you're sure what's following up, because taking the damage and then taking a counter hit anyway isn't fun. Get an idea of what options you have out of it in dojo mode, but I personally recommend these:

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif causes side turn, and if your opponent likes to abare(attack during disadvantages), you can hit /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and score the back throw, because they can turn all the way around as a result.

***Lightweights tend to be too short for this to work. The first hit will usually whiff, but it's not fully confirmed. Any Wolf players care to test it?***

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif - The catch! Good to surprise people on occasion, but a lot of people tend to be good at escaping the catch throws, in my experience.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif - Low dropkick! Another good surprise. Don't hesitate if you plan to use it, because if your opponent can see it coming, you're going to get the worst of the exchange. Be absolutely SURE you're going to follow it up if you use it.

EDIT: I got the Regret Discharge and the Reject Wall name confused. I rarely hear that name. lol

    A good thing to note:

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif works like Lion's parries in the sense it only works on punches and elbows that don't knock down.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif gives insane damage on MC, but it rarely connects, so that's the trade off.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif on high guard staggers, so learn to use this. On MC, use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif or gamble on a low throw guess (remember, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif throws the opponent in the direction their head is facing, use this to your advantage).

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is also a great form of suicide or as a taunt. Playing a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif noob? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif>/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif>/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif>/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif works wonders. Akira going to SPoD you? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif for a "Wait, WTF" moment.

    etc.

    Be creative.
