Picked up KOF2K2 on DC today. I haven't played it yet, but I have the CD right in front of me just waiting to be opened. Dunno how many KOF fans are on this board (maybe I should go to some KOF board), but I'll post my impressions here after I play it for a bit. Here's some info from the case:

    7blocks of mem
    compatible with:
    VMU and VMU 4X
    puru puru pack
    Arcade Stick
    VGA box.

If you like the DC Arcade stick, i could probably find a couple used ones. Or I could get some Evo sticks for $18 new. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Anyway, I played KOF2k2 for a little while now and here are my initial impressions...

    1. It plays exactly like the arcade! hehehe. That's to be expected of course.

    2. I never could hear much of the sounds or music in the arcade so I don't know how the quality of the DC ver compares to the original. Plus, I'm playing on a cheesy 20" TV with mono sound and one tiny speaker so it would sound worse than the arcade anyway.

    3. I haven't figured out how to unlock the secret chars yet. The evil Kyo code doesn't work so I guess he must be unlocked with the others (Shingo, King, Rugal).

    4. The initial load time is fairly slow. But once it gets to the intro attract screen, then the load time is very minimal. Chars load time between rounds takes about a sec. between matches it takes 3 to 4 secs.

    5. There are a number of modes... nothing particularly special. Team Play and VS; Single Play and VS; Practice, Option, Challenge (aka Survival) which includes Team, Single and Time modes. The final option is Gallery.

That's about it. I'm playing on the DC pad, so that kinda sux. I gotta pick up my DC stick. Maybe I have my PS2->DC controller converter around somewhere....

Overall, pretty much straight arcade conversion... probably the same stuff as Neo Geo home version. Original price is Y6800 (~$60) but I got it for Y5980 + tax which turned out to be ~$55. And I got it a day before release. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif
