Hello, I'm new here and this is my first post. I have taken an interest in artificial intelligence for the last 4 years. But one thing I wanted to note is that it appears that the A.I. in Arcade mode seems to be alot different from the one in quest mode.

For example, I played arcade mode on hard with Aoi, Goh, and Jeffry. My final match was with Akira, who seemed alot more aggressive than Oshu Akira in quest mode. 1) The aracde Akira used his knee over and over again, and he execute each move with insande speed 2) The aracade akira kept executing d/f K+G, f+P, u, d+k over and over again. His execution time is insane, which lead me to believe that it the aracde Akira seems to be using cheap patterns. 3) it is hard to hit arcade Akira, even if I buffer a multiple throw escape, he seems to always have the right comand to throw me. I know it is just a problem with probability, but I dont think that would be possible in real life. 4) he esacpes all of my throws, no matter how much I try to vary it up 5) he doesnt do common akira combos, instead he created 3 hit comobs, which seem to lead to a set up. And then abused me even more.

Conversely, the Oshu Akira did seem more realistic, but he eventually fell into cheaper patterns which made him easy to beat. anyway, I think the A.I is great despite alot of flaws, and I hope it is remedied if FT ever comes to PS2.

P.S. Does the computer analyze your strategy in each round and then shift its patterns to accomodate your fighting style in subsuquent rounds?

The quest CPU plays based on frames meaning once you get used to it, there'd be not a lot of suprises from it. On the other hand, Arcade CPU plays somewhat randomly. Arcade CPU starts escaping throws 100% when they get thrown by a same throw over and over.

For practice purposes, playing quest is way better than playing Arcade, but once in a while, it's fun and refreshing to play Arcade mode, as it does quite a bit or werid yet suprising stuff. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I find that, like maddy said, the Arcade mode can be alot more unpredictable and difficult. With Wolf, I can usually take apart most A.I.'s in quest mode but in arcade on hard I'll find it difficult to complete the thing(I don't think I have ever beaten Dural on hard).

I find when you reach stage 4, whichever route you use, the CPU suddenly know's how to fight (I rarely play the CPU, but I play on Very Hard).

Like Maddy said, it will escape a throw 100% if you do it about 5ish time's and through my experience seem's to always try reverse nitaku waaay too much (I.E. After my ff+P with Akira is blocked, my shoulder ram ALWAYS break's whatever the hell the CPU does, it NEVER block's the shoulder ram).

I personally find the Arcade harder than the Quest mode CPU, but think you can learn more from the A.I. of the champion ranked character (flowchart/strategy wise that is).
