Well i am thinking about building my own cabinet, and putting my ps2 inside. then have the Hori VF4 stick configuration put in (2 of course, for 2 player) . I am going to try to make it as realistic as possible, and strictly for VF4, and possibly for VF's to come..

I was wondering if any of you have built a cabinet, or MAME, or in fact have a liscensed machine in your house. There is a VF4 machine on Ebay, with screen and everything...looks pretty new, but they want around $4000 for it.

that looks like an old KI or MK cabinet........i know you can buy old pcb's for cheap, but i dont know about the new ones. i 'think' the new vs machines go for around 8k and up. i may be wrong.....

The owner of the machine on Ebay is Shadowdean, who used to be regular poster on this board. He won the machine by entering a gamepro contest. Now I guess he's bored with it -
his reserve at ebay seemed pretty high, you can try to PM or email him and see what you can work out ... Better to own the real thing if it's within your budget, right?

    yea definitly,

but im afraid im unable to spend that amount of money on it. For the cheaper choice, i just gotta get off my lazy ass and become a carpenter for a few days.

but damn im jealous of him....i dont think i could get tired of it.....ever....

What the heck is with that button arrangement?
That's the only VF4 on ebay I could find.
BTW, advice to Shadowdean: Before you try to pawn your cabinet on ebay, get a clue how ebay works. No idiot is going to spend $1,000+ on an auction with:
    a. No picture proof that this thing actually exists
    b. A zero-feedback auctioneer
    c. Yu Suzuki's name misspelled

You forgot d) grossly overpriced (judging by the buy-it-now price and the reserve). No idiot will pay $4000 over the going price for a unit. eBay people can be stupid, Josh, but I don't think many are as stupid as you.

Do a search on Google for "mame cabinets" or "arcade cabinets". You'll find pages selling cabinets and/or designs for cabinets.

I still lurk, I actually got the machine into my house just because I was not getting any offers and got it hooked up...I gotta say, since the last time I played VF on a machine for any regular amount of time was vf2, I forgot what its like to play on a quality machine with really good joysticks...Hmm, maybe I can drag it up for nyg3...

i gotta admit shadow, that machine doesnt really look high quality......is that what you recieved for winning the contest?? if so, its sad on the contests part. it looks beat to hell. i've probably played on that machine in my mk days.....j/k. was it ver. b or c or a for that matter??? i'd love to get a cabinet in my house, whether its vf or some other fighting game......theres some vf2 machines also on ebay, so maybe i'll bid....

    hey zero,

that button arrangement is better than the horizontal layout ive had to deal with. the buttons on the machine i play on are unevenly set horizontally. say 1/2" between [G] and [P], then 3/4" between [P] and [K]....on the p2 side, then on p1 side, 1/2" between [G] and [P], then 2/3" between [P] and [K]. almost the same, but bad for someone like me who becomes accustomed to doing moves on a certain side.....alas i suck. i just wish i could see ONE real vf cabinet here in FL. they had vf3 in a large screen, with the proper button layout, in a REAL cabinet, but i guess the ability to change out controllers when pcbs are changed is more important than proper intended gameplay. oh well, enough complaints from me......i think i may go and take pictures of the layout just for the hell of it. just to document how pathetic US arcades are......

    sorry for my rant.....

    Um beat up?

That machine is BRAND SPANKING NEW, it is VERY nice, all Black with Gold trim, very nice monitor, not a scratch on it, plus Yu sig on the side, it is a great machine, I know, I helped move it in the house ;-)
