Does the computer use Items it wins?

I know this might be a dumb question.

But we don't have any more tournaments in my area until 4th July.
and my other competition is off to college. So I've been playin
the computer in Quest mode.

Sometimes we fight for an item, and if I win I get the item, but
if the computer wins (yea I know as unlikely as that sounds) the
computer gets the item.

My question is does the computer ever equip any of the items that it wins? I guess I'm not in quest mode enough to know whether the computer controlled fighters wear different gear.

Does anybody know? If they do, I want to make sure I loose
everytime an item is up for grabs, that way the fighters will at
least look different although they don't fight different /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

 

I am going to prey that no one plays quest mode that much to know the answer to that question.
