Escaping ST situations

I was playing around the other day and noticed that when ST(side-turned) that 8/2 p+k had some evasive properties and would lead you to a couple situations depending on which way you were facing and if you used 8or2 such as taking there side or evading then being BT.
I also realised that 6 p+k+g rolled you into the fore/back ground.
Without means to really test this I was wondering how effective if at all these would be in escaping those pesky situations like a Van K+G or got BT p+k.

Never thought of trying 8/2 P+K from side turned, interesting usage for it.

As far as the roll goes, I think it's better used, when you're side turned, to roll away after your opponent does one of those throws that can be modified to leave you side turned like Akira's, Jacky's or Lau's (that I can think of off the top of my head.)

Generally rolling away after one of those throws is a fairly sound and safe choice.
