European Gathering in Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Hey guys,

Me and some other Dutch guys went to Stockholm, Sweden a couple of weeks ago, to play VF with the Swedes. Since we had a lot of fun there, they want to pay us a visit here in Holland as well.

I've been thinking about holding a meeting in Holland for a while now and since there's all these events popping up in the USA, I thought us Europeans could use something comparable.

So I thought it would be a good idea to let the two things coincide and use the Swedes to draw in other players, haha.

We don't have a date for this thing yet, however. I was thinking of doing it sometime in the late summer/early autumn, but nothing's set in stone right now. We'll most likely hold it during a weekend.

For now, I just want to ask who would want to come over?

The meeting will be held in Amsterdam. There's a big airport right beside Amsterdam (Schiphol) and there's also plenty of busses (Eurolines?) and trains (from France, anyway) going there, so it's pretty accessible!

Since Amsterdam is a pretty popular town amongst youngsters as a holiday destination (it's legal to smoke grass here), there's a lot of hotels and youth hostels around, so it should be easy to find a place to stay, too.

Remember that everyone in Holland (especially in Amsterdam) speaks pretty good English, and most also know a bit of German and French, so it's easy to stay here without knowing any Dutch.
We will, of course, help you out to the best of our ability, should you need it!

If you would be interested in coming over, please post here! This could be our chance to blow some life into the european VF community!

I'm definitely up for it, might need help finding a decent hotel/b&b when once you've got a date set.

I'm free the last week of august and the 1st week of september. I will be interested, but I have never be outside my country (France) lol, I wouldn't want to go alone lol

 

@ Kingo: You play offline with Erdraug, right? He said he was interested as well, so maybe you two can come over together? It would be awesome to have you guys over /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif , I've been wanting to play you offline!

hi all, if you organise it, rather not in august cause thats when the WCG qualifier is here.

 

Any month is fine for me but whoever is organising this should try their best to see when everyone interested in attending is able to come.

 

Would love to come but for me only on weekend should work.
But like Kingof said, would be a lonly journey from germany to Amsterdam even though not really far away.
Could even drive by car.

But if some other players are interested, we could travel together.
Like I said earlier I live in germany, near Darmstadt. Maybe someone comes through there.

 

We will do that, of course. For now, though, we're just seeing how many people would want to make the trip. We're also checking to see when we would have the time to organise this, when we've done that, we'll post a number of dates here and we can see which date would be best for everyone /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif .

I would like to at least do the meet before the WCG Grand Finals (end of November), but if that's impossible, we'll do it later.

Great to see that there's people interested BTW /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif and from a nice variety of countries, too! We should do some kind of showdown between all the countries attending, haha!

EDIT: Aidan, there's quite a few players in Germany, I think. I'm crappy at topography, in what part of Germany are you located? I think Rock Howard lives in Hamburg.. Not sure where the rest lives, actually, haha.

 

I may be down for this if others from UK are. if the date is set for definite then i could pool funds etc etc

 

Im interested, but I cant say what my financial situation will be come summer.

If a bunch of folk from the uk are going and we travel together I can MAYBE go. I say MAYBE because at the moment money is almost non-existent /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Well i'm interested in the trip if i have a place to sleep. I'm not so rich to pay the travel and the hotel :S so the place to sleep will be a great help for me.

Nice! That makes 18 interested foreign players already!

If everyone were to show up, we'd have 25 players competing, great stuff! If we could make it up to 32 that would be amazing!
