I was watching several lion movies to see how he changed during evo, and i noticed a weird move where lion pokes the opponent and it looks sorta like he gets hit but he doesnt...It is always a knee/kick that is "blocked" too...

Is this some sort of weird new sabaki or something? If it is why do opponents keep insisting on counter attacking using a knee or kick...

    Twobitmage is confused
    Excuse my idiocy

Are you talking about the [3][P][K] move which stuns the opponent. I find it to be pretty useless even though I do it once in a while. It knees the guy and staggers him so that you can throw him or do a quick combo. Really, really hard to hit the opponent unless he's standing there and just blocking.

I have a feeling Two_Bit_Mage is talking about the [4][P][P] which sucks the opponent in as Lion reels back. It's easy to mistake this for Lion being hit when you see it the first few times.

And the [3][P]+[K] is far from being useless. On a counter hit stagger you can followup with [4][4][K] combos.

    Just a tip from experience.

For those playing the new EVO Lion, try this move on your opponent. It is more like a guessing game for the opponent. Don't abuse it so much because the animation is slow. Use it when you need to finish the game /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

    [2]+[P]+[G],[4_] (back-turned) [2]+[K] , or

    [2]+[P]+[G],[4_] (back-turned) [P]+[K] (the new back-turned mid-hit), or

    [2]+[P]+[G],[6]+[P] (no back-turned)

So they took out the spinning [3]+[P][P][K] move in evo ? and the [3]+[P]+[K] ? dang and I liked the latter alot

The spinning move is [4]+[P],[P],[K] and it is indeed gone, but I don't think that will break too many lion players hearts as it was a pretty worthless move. And dont worry about the new [3]+[P]+[K], it is propably my favorite new move of his. Its an eye poke move and if it hits, the opponent staggers backwards, creating a nice 50/50 guessing game. Losing the old [3]+[P]+[K] isn't too bad, I'd always prefered [2]+[P]+[K] to it anyways.

[4]+[P][P] was an awesome move -- completely uncounterable, and because so many people thought it was a crap move they would try and clobber you with a counter attack. I used [4]+[P][P] - dodge quite a bit and it was very effective. I'd usually dodge into [P]+[K]. I agree on [3]+[P]+[K] though, I rarely used the VF4 version, however I really ike the EVO version.

    cheers,

The [4][P][P] is a good move to use when it is a close-range fight. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif It sometimes dodges throws and high punches. Or is it my imagination?

Ken, in a movie I saw, Lau was doing [6][P],[P], Lion's [4][P],[P] actually duck the palm and hit Lau.

    Hi Delune, /versus/images/icons/cool.gif

How's the Evo Lion players over your side? What is their gameplay looks like?

For me, I used a lot of [4][P][P] or [6][6][P]+[K],[P]....
