I believe they're still debating on holding the semi-finals for VF or not. If there are, top 8 in each pool advance, otherwise, it's just the top 2 in each. It's a bit of a waste to VF only players to just have finals though.

Pool 4: pool of death as Myke called it, only pool with 2 of the celebs from Japan.

I lost to Neo Tower, TWICE! He sent me to loosers in my first match of the day (nice warm up), then I lost to him again in the finals of loosers, after he lost to Chibita. I couldn't watch that fight as i was playing Alex, but it got lots of hoots and hollers.

The other show-stopper was Mad-Dog Jin against Ohsu, which takes my vote for matches of the day. Ohsu pretty much crushed him out of the gate, then MDJ came back to win the second match with Jacky's b+P+K+G- K, G cancel, P+G throw, pretty stylish. Jaws were dropping, people yelling.

At this point Ryan Hart destroyed the dramatic effect between the end of the 2nd match and the coming final set by saving the replay... pretty much everyone moaned at this.

Then, although it was a good fight, Ohsu beat MDJ in the last match. I can't help but feel if they had proceeded straight to the final match, it would have been a hotter fight.

Looking forward to seeing the final 8 go at it tomorrow.

    Quick Impressions:

Neo Tower: poke and bait you to death with Jacky
    Ohsu: feels like getting crushed
Chibita: very playful and the most fun by far, highly inspiring.

oops, I goofed... just watched some of the footage I took, and MDJ's backstep- K,G- throw happened in the 4th round of the third (last) fight, not the second.

If they're gonna take out the semi-finals, are the finals still gonna be the same time, 8-12? That was the time I planned on rolling into town...

Finals are still scheduled to start at 8pm as previously reported.

There was some confusion at first, but it's only the top 2 from each pool that proceed directly to the finals.

    1.1 Kofu-Megane
    1.2 Myke
    2.1 Ryan Hart
    2.2 Nuki
    3.1 Ohsu-Akira
    3.2 Mad-dog Jin
    4.1 Chibita
    4.2 Neo-Tower

It'll be a Japanese dominated finals, but hopefully the Westerners can upset the party! The finals will simply continue into an 8-man double-elimination bracket, with those seeded 2nd from the pools carrying over their loss into the finals (sucks!)

Anyway, I'll post my impressions later and I have lots of video to share.
