    Okay, I've got some details here, as there are people above 10-dan.

    10-kyu to Shodan -- point based, like before.
    Shodan to 2-dan - 2 wins / 5 losses (or 2 consecutive wins regarless of loss points)
    2-dan to 5-dan - 3 wins / 5 losses (or 3 consecutive wins regardless of loss points)
    6-dan to 7-dan - 4 wins / 5 losses (or 4 consecutive wins regardless of loss points)
    8-dan to Tsuwamono - 5 wins / 5 losses (or 5 consecutive wins regardless of loss points)
    Tsuwamono to Mosa - 5 consecutive wins against a 10-dan player. Lose once, and you're back to 10-dan.

    I'm pretty sure any dan rank can be lost with 5 consecutive losses.

    The Tsuwamono ‹ŽÒ Mosa –ÒŽÒ thing I'm not 100% sure on, but that's what a guy that was ranked Mosa told me. He's in a team called "Un ga ii" which are on I believe ALL of the Tokyo Bay Area clips. Coincidentally, I beat him today in the 5 round of a 3 on 3 tournament -- was fealing pretty proud. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

    Sweet stuff GaijinPunch.I guess Shodan is like 1st dan right?

    Yeup, that's right.
    I like it better this way. I assume there are the other post 10-dan rankings after a whole new set of titles. I like it better this way. Same dan-level fights aren't so bad if you lose this time around.

    So he is that strong?
    Damn...

    Yeah, he's pretty bad. I have a sneaking suspicion him, Akira, & Aoi are going to get dumbed down a bit, although I really don't think Aoi's THAT much stronger -- only people that never played with her do. Oh, yeah -- reversing anything in the game really helps, but mainly only against Akira, Wolf, and Jeffry, which had a relatively low number of reversable attacks.

    Anyways, AM2 is always sucking Jacky's dick, so they may not touch him. Just trying to remember from changes from version A to B.

    It's been a while, but I think during the beta testing, Jacky had no [6][P] - which REALLY affected the game... I guess too many people bitched about it.

    I actually goofed this. Should look like this:

    10-dan -> Tsuyomono 5 wins/5 losses
    Tsuyomono -> Mosa 5 wins/3 losses
    Mosa -> ?? ? wins/? losses

    Don't think anyone's gotten above Mosa yet.
    You can also go from Tsuyomono back down to 10-dan this time.

    This is a pretty good opportunity to mention this-

    pyrexia has a spanky little evo rank calculator. I can't read the japanese well enough to see whether he names the haou+ ranks, but it's a nice concept anyway - plug in your wins and losses and it tells you where you're at and how many more you need to rank up.

    ...now if only the guy would go back to capping movies...

    Also on Pyrexia is more ranking system info:

    10-dan to Tsuyomono = 5 wins
    TSuyomono to Mosa - 5 wins
    Mosa - Ohsha - 5 wins
    Osha - Meisho - 5 wins

    Gaijin Punch are you sure about 10th Dan to Tsuwamono being 5 wins? I was in a 24hour game centre ranked 10th Dan and a 10th Dan Lau joined in.

    I didn't think he was that good,but I lost the first game. So I thought I'll play again I know I can beat this guy.
    So I beat him the next game and he came back in again,I beat him 4 more times making 5 in a row and put him down to 9th Dan but I was still 10th Dan.

    Yes - 100% positive.
    I won 5 (not in a row) w/ my Lion the other day and got up to Tsuwamono.

    What time were you there? VF.net is down from 6AM - 8Am. The next question -- was the machine connected? Next question -- was his card registered? Either of the latter two elements can cause you to not get a 'title' -- any title for that matter.

    I guess the machine was connected seeing as my Ringname etc. was on the screen and also the guy moved down to 9th Dan after he lost,It was about 2am ish if I remember correctly.

    The guys card said NO-NAME as the ring-name but it was on the screen doesn`t that mean it was registered?

    What you are saying is that you can`t promote to Tsuwamono if you play against an unregisted card or fake matches like that Tsuchiya Joe or whatever his name was last time?

    Actually I saw something yesterday at Nishi Spo that made me really angry. This guy Mingoru a really good Aoi was a Mosa and he was playing. Then Kurita challenged and it said promotion if you win for Mingoru.
    Mingoru won the match but he didn't promote to Ousha
    Obviously he was kind of pissed off then the next guy challenged again it said promotion if you win for Mingoru but this time he lost I guess partly cos he was still angry.

    WELL this just reminded me of what happened to me when I tried to move up to Tsuwamono even though I got my 5 wins I didn't promote.........but stupid idiots SEGA.....if I can't promote by playing against an unregisted card then how is it fair that I get loss points from losing against such cards?? /versus/images/icons/confused.gif /versus/images/icons/frown.gif

    So anymore Tokyo adventure stories?

    NO-NAME = not registered.
    He can knock you down, and you can knock him down, but neither of you can go up! They're doing that to prevent people from selling the cards on yahoo Japan. That's why you didn't rank up.

    Remember, your card has memory. Even if you go to a game center w/ no connection, your name, rank, wins, losses, and items you had last equipped will show up. Chat messages won't work though.

    The system is not perfect. I was 4-dan Lei Fei back on Version C. (I was new, and 4th was actually half-decent. Wasn't NEAR as easy to rank up then as it is now). Anyways, I got the "demoted if you lose" - won that match, the person challenged me again, and once again "demoted if you lose". Huh? I won that one, but lost two in a row after that, and dropped down. Was a bit pissed to say the least.
