    I heard this expression on The Getaway 2 commercial, "Fancy a butcher's??". Can anyone from the UK tell me what this expression means?

    Cockney slang.

    butcher's = butcher's hook

    hook rhymes with look

    Fancy a butcher's? = Fancy a look?

    Hmm, interesting, quite interesting. Keep those British phrases coming. I'm learning quite a lot here. Also what does blimey mean? Does it mean something like damn or sh#t?

    I think it's more like (insert Keanu Reaves voice) "whoa."

    There's an I Love Lucy episode where Lucy is using some American slang term in the presence of a British gentleman. The man asks, "what does ______ mean?"

    Ricky thinks a moment and says "oh, that means blimey!"

    Wish I could remember what the word was.

    Oh yeah, I have the first one and it's full of British stuff i can't understand. Luckily they have a chart that explains it. I never knew that "tart" meant a whore or cheap prostitute. But my favorite is "up sh!t creek." I now use that phrase whenever the situation calls for it.

    well the proper phrase is more like

    '(insert activity here such as youd better do something) or we'll be up shit creek without a paddle'

    only a phrase to use when ur got an impending doom coming. like say paying back a loan shark or like paying a bill b4 the repo men come. but i guess it can be used for other things
