What did u guys think?

I was very underwhelmed. The new block and counter system is better than the parry system, but still feels a little gimmicky. I played many exhibitions and tried to focus on defense, but i don't think taking a slick, fast, jab oriented boxer will be a viable option. Especially given the parry/counter system. Maybe that was because of the match up available in the demo. Still i found the best i got hatton down to was 54% or 53% and that was sacrificing a ridiculous amount of offense to play defense (basically playing worse than i had to in order to gaurd more<--haha the opposite of how i play vf5). The push feels like it is going to be 100% broken. I can very easily see it being completely abused online, and the push being a part or even multiple parts of most combos...can't be sure though, i know it dominated in exhibition vs the cpu. Lastly, the new punching mechanic for the analog stick was defenitely a step backwards in punch control IMO. A big step backwards. Hopefully i rent it and all my concerns will be alleviated. But for now, i am shocked to say considering my anticipations for FN4, but i think gameplay wise it is way behing UFC Undisputed. Actually, i think the FN4 demo will be the reason i get the UFC game.

I'm interested to hear others' opinions. Thanks guys.

^ Yeah you could use the face buttons before but it broke the game, so they got rid of it now. Looking at the official forums though, seemed everyone used the face buttons. It's actually pretty easy to pull off different types of punches and combos with the stick, just takes a little while to get used too... Definitely a lot easier than it was in FNR3 though.

@ Social: The push is to stop your opponents clinch attempts, don't see how that's broken cause aside from stopping a clinch it's useless.

Glad they got rid of that shitty Flash KO or whatever it was called from the previous one, really hated that. I miss the default camera angle from FNR3, they gone back to the FNR 1 and 2 camera and it's not as good as 3's [IMG]

Graphics nice, replay system awesome, new weave system awesome,

Card Girls, OMG they SUCK! The card girl in the demo looks
like Chris Rock [IMG] FNR3 did much better job on the Card girl. Who wants to see Chris Rock in a dress OMG [IMG]

new TPC controls SUCK

You loose a great deal of precision with this new control scheme.
Using the analog stick in the way they have used it prevents certain combos that you used to throw from even being acheived. I don't care how good you are with the analog stick.

With the new TPC system you are going to throw alot more punches that you did not intend to throw, sure we all miss
a combo now and then but this TPC is going to make that a regular occurrence. it SUX

Also the stamina thing is all wrong, the punches don't feel like they have weight. Although FNR4 is a step forward when it comes to character animations, the referee, the crowd, the rings, the replay system, the bread and butter punch control took a big VERY BIG step back. Its not a matter of just getting used to TPC, the way they've implemented analog prevents a whole range of combos from being accurately and consistently thrown.

So in the end they might have thought they got away from button mashing, but all they did was trade button mashing for random
analog stick flicking. And its going to look FN comical with
those awesome rendered fighters throwing hilarious non realistic combos because of all of the analog flicking that's going to be happening.

IF EA does not add back in the button option configuration I'll
be waiting for Fight Night Round 5.

UFC 2009 did a much better job with the button + analog stick mix. They did a 1000% better job with stamina, the punches, elbows and kicks in UFC 2009 seem to have weight, the punches
if FNR4 don't

TBH FNR3 offers better (more realistic) fighting possibilities.

You worked that out from a demo?! Nice!

I actually agree somewhat though, from the FNR4 demo... 3 looks like the better game. Still be picking 4 up though [IMG]

I agree with you about the total punch control too, they've made it a lot simpler to do the basic stuff and haymakers and it seems to have messed the game up a bit. Doesn't feel like you can put different amounts of force into the punch depending how far you swing the stick now, unless I just can't tell and the new haymakers are lame compared to the FNR3 ones.

FNR4 looks nowhere near as broke as 3 though, the parry system in 3 practically made you invincible in 3.... Unless you was playing against the face button mashers but face button player vs a stick player was another kind of broke all together.

Yes, I say better more realistic because

1) The stamina system on FNR4 IMHO is whacked, the animations
certainly don't track the stamina system

2) a whole class of precision combos are not possible
(at least not consistently possible) with the new TPC system

Although the pushing, and weaving add more realism, the TPC and the stamina implementation takes 2 wice as much realism away.

If you've watched to two top notch tekken players sway waiting for each other to make a move and you thought looked funny,
wait till you see the analog flickin in conjunction with the
new stamina system. Yep I've seen it in action with the demo
it SUX

Now after playin the demo a little more

I'm absolutely certain it Sux

I loaded up FN3 to check the card girls out and to compare them with FNR4 and now there is no doubt about
it,

The card girl is either Chris Rock in drag, or Chris Rock's sister.

FNR4 takes about 5 steps forward and 6 steps backward [IMG]
