Does anyone else remember the days when VF2 Saturn was all you had at home, VF3 was out in Japanese arcades and you wanted to try the new moves? Well, you could get the import Fighter's Megamix and do Akira's DLC and use all of the VF3 moves before VF3 (the arcade), let alone team battle or the dreamcast was out... just a bit of nostalgia for the hardcore VFers....

2. Hey cool, I got a Sega Saturn and I have both Virtua Fighter 2 and Fighter's Megamix. /versus/images/icons/grin.gif I love both games. I'll soon be jumping on the bandwagon though and getting VF4. Ciao.

FMM.

Jeezus, don't even get me started.
That game is an absolute mess. A fun fanservicey mess, but a mess nonetheless.

fighter's megamix was fun intill you played with a vf character and realized they were pathetically weaker. they should make an up to date version with the fv2 cast. but this time use the full vf4 engine, and a complete fv2 engine...

i can't take it any longer...

is that sig image really necessary? it's huge; it's a small but noticeable pain to load if you're on 56k; and you being a mod sets a bad example for others - there are already enough of these around.

Not to mention severely outdated, her current highscore stands at over 10 million now.

NO. Combining the two game engines simply CAN NOT and WILL NOT work. The games are too far removed from each other now.

Plus the balance would be absolutely horrendous. I can think of a bazillion hypothetical situations where a VF4 or FV2 character would have a huge advantage over another. It is simply IMPOSSIBLE to combine the two, and that is why Kataoka-san says that he will never try it again.

Bungle: Would you rather I have a bazillion cute little animated sprite-rip GIFs?
When I post the updated score (whenever my computer recuperates) I shall make it smaller. XD

I think it can work, it would require a compromise...the developers just have to think what would be the goal of the game..if they are not making a game that is ment for serious competition, then it is quite possible and it could be a very enjoyable product.

Shit it's already been done (in a sense) and the gameplay was slapstick humor (FMM.) I think it makes for some entertainment, but as for a serious fighting game with both engines incorporated in some manner.... I don't think so.

BTW, I only played FMM to practice the VF3 moves to get ready..... I never really enjoyed FV myself, I guess it's because I've been hooked on VF since the first installment and I can't really even play any other fighting game without wishing it were more like VF.

I almost only played Janet anyway. I was completely hooked on Aoi after trying the arcade version a couple of times, and Janet is besically Aoi with a gun /versus/images/icons/smile.gif oh and with armor /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

TWO POINTS FOR YOU! Remember what I said in the post about the intent of the game. Just as long as you take the game for what it is, then there is no reason that you cannot enjoy it. I certainly had fun playing FMM.

Still remembered that missed throw animations from FV characters could be reversed by VF characters. lol Very funny.
