flamingo sweep follow ups?

I've dissed the flamingo sweep in the past, stating that if you hit with the sweep, you could have also connected the gatling kick throw, which is the better option. But after facing a bucket full of mashers on XBL, I have to say the FL sweep has its uses. My question now is what to do once you knock down with the sweep-- Sarah stays in flamingo stance. I don't use the sweep that often, and I find myself going into brain freeze... I usually end up using the backflip escape because it's invulnerable to rising attacks, but I want to pressure a knocked down opponent, not run away.

A skilled player might quick rise after getting hit by the sweep, so I'm more comfortable with that situation (flamingo vs. a quick rising opponent.) But I'm less likely to use the sweep vs. a skilled opponent...

Do you have time to G-cancel out of stance and ground kick or pounce if they don't quick rise?

What do you do after hitting with the flamingo sweep?

    Yes.

    and

I'll sometimes G-cancel and go for the ground kick, not the pounce. I don't think you have time to pounce, I wonder if FL /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif works?

But my best and most common thing I do after sweep is FL /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif. So if they quick rise you position yourself about the same distance as a backdash buffered switch kick. You're also at an ideal range to use the sweep again, get it in people's minds not to try evading after rises because this was a big problem I had, I needed something lower risk that deals with evaders and flamingo sweep is just that, because -11 is not bad for guessing wrong.

Also, I noticed that the sweep has interesting properties because I've been able to have Sarah go under some mids, to include Jeffry's KNEE!

I had the guts to experiment flamingo evasion on Jeffrys cause if you screw you up lose, so it was good practice.

The mashers online are a big problem though, because sometimes your frame tight moves are slightly off and you get hit out of things, so I've gotten her smacked in the face when trying to use certain moves. Oh yeah also FL /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif is a good thing to try after the sweep connects when you watch your downed opponents body begin to move for a riser.

You can also get the flip kick (up + K) if they don't tech roll. It also depends on distance, if you hit with the sweep right next to the opponent then I would say backflipping away or using a sidestepping attack (K+G up, UP+P+K)would be better. Hitting with the sweep with some distance would allow you to try the flipkick with a little more safety.

I would also add that occasionally sprinkling in a flip over (up/forward +PKG) can get a WTF? reaction. If you time it right and they try a get up attack, you can land behind them with a little bit of an advantage (but you'll still be in Flamingo.)

i usually just backflip esc also tho lately ive been goin to the kickflip as well... but if theyre gonna just lie there & take it then give them the goodstuff:
    FL/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif x2, FL/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif 46dmg lol

or the more modest FL/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,FL/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif 41dmg

That's the kind of thing I was looking for! Thanks GS! =)

This sounds similar to my n00b killer on XBL.
    MC /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif > pounce.
Of course you can quick rise out of it, but if you don't, it's easy damage.
This works with Sarah's other sweeps too:
    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and turn toward /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif

FL/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif... the FL attack I always forget about... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Is your more modest combo FL/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif > FL kickflip?
I do the FL kickflip with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif.

    haha well...
after reading the original post i was fooling around in dojo to see what i could find for use after a connecting sweep(aside from kickflip) & thats when i came across the aforementioned "goodstuff" & posted it ½jokingly in reference to opponents who dont use fall recovery. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

since then after many failed attempts in matches i decided to take it back to the dojo & discoverd it only works on brad & jeff... bummer bummer bummer =[

but if you are fighting a non ukemi-ing brad go ahead & do FL/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif x2, FL/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif... (or FL/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif
if you prefer /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbs_up.gif) it does 1 more point of silly silly char specific damage :p

tho some chars will take FL/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, FL/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif after the sweep depending on range(u gotta be like wall close for it to work on some chars)

soooo... looks like aside from kickflip some type of movement option would be the best bet?

After playing some online matches I did find another alternative after the flamingo sweep or any instance where you knock your opponent down and are in flamingo stance.

If they don't tech roll you can do some of the combos listed above. If they have proven they will tech roll after flamingo sweep then you can also use Sarah's switch step attacks. While it is not guranteed damage the switch step attacks are not something a lot of people use or have seen much. So /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif out of switch step will usually get people to block the first two kicks then try to counter or throw and you get a crumple on the thrid hit. You also have /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif as a low hit option. You can train your opponent to block in these situations and start doing the switch step and go for a throw.

Like I said it's not guaranteed damage, but it adds another level of mind games and you get to use the switch step attacks which don't initially appear to be all that useful. I would caution using this against Akira as his double palm out of tech roll will pretty much rule you.

Against techroll-happy players, try dashing in whilst buffering for the Gattling Kick throw.

Hasn't anybody tried doing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, jf throw? I do it and it works for guys who tech roll and turtle. After the sweep, I take a tiny forward step and do it. The move is slow but because people see it coming, they get frozen and block, then they get nailed with the jf grab. Try it. I think it's quite clever.

You can ideed do the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif into the jf throw, but you will have to be careful because some people come out of their tech rolls with rising attacks. I would definatly not do this against a good Akira player because the double palm will eat your lunch. But, if they show the tendancy to tech roll and block, by all means kick them in the face.
