The main american chracter talks about the Virtua Fighter game and moves for example Double Palms. Thought it was funny even though most of that info would fly right over the audiences head.

also look for the Dreamcast in the guys bedroom too

Lol I was rollin (in my head) when I heard that. I got a feeling some higher up with some say must be a big VF fan or something to be so blatant about that line.

I was surprised at how much I liked this movie. So many references to not just VF but many classic Kung Fu movies. It was just like Jacky + Jet + endless fanservice + wire-fu.

^ You'll enjoy it. Just ignore the obvious drawbacks lol. And if you're not a fan of wire-fu, grin and bare it haha.

The opening credits will make most kung-fu gurus all giddy. I only knew a handful of the movies and actors shown outside of Bruce of course, but even with the little I knew it made me happy lol. It's like they used the opening credits/posters to pay homage/respect to them.

EDIT: Wow, totally didn't ralize that first vid was there and shows the opening lol. My fault /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Actually that is original content from the film, the movie does feature the Monkey King of Chinese folklore legend (portrayed by Jet Li).

For years I felt that Jackie should retire from performing in films for the reason that it shortening his life span. But after watching these clips of him & Jet Li I release that he still has a lot of fight left in him. So hell if you're going to go out, go out fighting.

I watched it today and even my female friend, who doesn't like Kung-Fu flicks, could not deny that this movie kicks ass.

(ok, I'm about to talk like an old man here) We had The fucking Karate Kid but kids nowadays get The Forbidden Kingdom, lucky bastards.
I remember looking at Mega Man 2 (or something) and being blown away by Mega Man being able to blink. I was all like "wooow, look at those graphics" /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif Kids nowadays got God Of War. We had Wolfenstein, they got Halo.
We did have all those old Shaw Bros kick flicks but when it comes to new movies coming to theaters, kids got movies like Shanghai Knights (Donnie Yen vs Jackie Chan) The Protector (Tony Jaa vs Lateef Crowder) and now Forbidden Kingdom (Chan vs Li).

I don't even like Wire-Fu, but I can't front, this movie had some bad-ass fights, with or without wires, the choreagraphy was sick.
It's #1 at the box-office so hopefully Jet Li and Jackie Chan decide to make more movies together.
I've always wanted to see Jet Li as the bad guy (Lethal Weapon 4 style) versus Jackie Chan (Jackie just being Jackie) and them having some bad ass wire-less fights (Fist of Legend style).

I don't want to hype up this movie any more than I already have but just the way that I remember The Karate Kid being one of the coolest American kick-flicks when I was a kid and making me love martial arts even more, is the same way that I can totally picture millions of kids watching this movie and getting just as hyped if not more than we did after watching the kick-flicks that made a lasting impression on us when we were kids.

To be honest, I could throw away the film if it wasn't for Jackie and Jets fight showcasing the styles that they are most known for
showcasing Drunken Fist and Mantis of course.

When Jet pimped the Mantis Sway I almost jumped out my seat giggling like a school girl. And Jackie pimpin out the tiger
    Fearless Hyena style! WHAT?!?!?!

Ahh back when I thought Kung Fu was good....sigh...I need to be
ignorant again. (I'm kidding of course, its not that Kung Fu isn't
good. Just most of it's practitioners aren't good....at fighting
    anyway.)

Okay, the videos are no longer present. I will probably rent it at my nearby Blockbuster to see the Virtua Fighter reference.[/size]
