GVN Summer Bash 2 - Aug23rd Media, PA

The second GVN summer Bash will be held Aug 23rd at the Virtual Rush lan center in Media, PA.

There will be a Regular and Tag Team Tournament for DOA4 and Tekken Tag. There will be a singles tournament for Virtua Fighter 5, Tekken 5 DR, Soul Calibur 4 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Registration will be at 12pm. The show will begin at 3pm. Show up at least an hour early for registration.

Directions by train and bus from Center city Philly.

Take the R3 train towards Media/Elwyn. Hop off the train at Elwyn station. Walk to the bus stop and take the northbound 117 bus. The next stop is to the granite run mall. Get off at the mall and walk to the AMC theatre. Virtual Rush is located behind the AMC theatre.

DOA4 tag - 3:00pm~
DOA4 Singles - half an hour after tag ends
Tekken 5 DR - 4:00~

SSBM - 4:00pm~

Basic rules

Rules:
-You are allowed to bring your own controller or arcade stick (please mark it)
-Programmable/macro controllers/sticks are not allowed.
-60 second time limit

I know the sponsor money is a huge interest for some but c'mon lets get some hype in this thread.

 

XD...Vader is banned outright. I'm tickled by this...

 

yes laughable, however its just like in sc2, when all link, spawn and the old fart where banned.

 

Its a little early to ban vader. The other 3 guest characters were banned for reasons. Like they were super powerful /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif But i guess its best to play it safe although somebody could find a character thats not banned and find a glitch/ ridiculously overpowered move/set up and win the tournament with him or her b4 anyone knows about it. Also you didn't post a tournament time for SCIV Hubbs.

 

Just wanted to say that I'm supposed to be moving in/moved into school by then, but I will try to come anyway. I wanna play Soooul caliburrrrrrrrrr.

 

I didn't? whoops. Anyway I am playing it safe to ban vader and I might a well ban his apprentice as well. but then again I have to stand back and look at DOA4 as an example. DOA4 has Spartan and Evo and WCG are the only events that have her(and tengu?) banned.

Why are "Custom characters" are not allow in VF5, they're a just cosmetic makeover, I understand if people want to go to the shop and add items, that would be a big no, no. But what if they bring their own memory card(With Profile of course)?Just curious about this.

 

I guess because it has not been tested by him. Im sure if hubbs tested this and the tournament ran smoothly there would be no problem. Its just that loading profiles can potentially cause an unnecessary delay in the tournament.

 

I'll think about that one. It takes awhile to load a profile without online access, and if i were to allow it, the event would take forever because everybody's loading their profile everytime they switch 360's for matches.

 

Loading X360 profiles at a tournament in my opinion is a complete waste of time.

 

Thats what i think also, but if people want to do it and the person running the tourney doesn't see a problem with it then i'll go along with it. Its just that costumes don't help you win the fight.

Also i don't think many people are going to show up to this so i guess im gonna win this again. Whats this like the 3rd time in a row?

 

I've passed Virtual Rush a few times. I had no idea they hosted tournaments. I'll definitely try to make it to this one.

 

you've only won 1 gvn vf tourney low. =) I just wish more than 4 people were there at the last one.

 

Actually me and flash fought twice that day at 2 different tournaments. I ended up going to both tournaments that were called GVN. And nobody wanted to play VF at the last tournament lol. They knew i was gonna win. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

 

well we had dr dogg, ninja cw, you and me. My friend would've played if he had't gone to the warhammer tournament(that he won) and maybe one other person. Oh and chief didn't make it. =(
