Im not a bad player.. i actually consider myself as an o.k. player
anyways, i use Lei Fei and I was playing against my friend
I am better than him, and i totally pwned him when he used Akira but when he uses Kage, I suddenly break down on defense. more than half of my life is nowhere to be found only after 7 seconds sometimes. Even though I won(11 to 10.. pretty close) I had a lot of trouble defending against Kage. Any help?

also.. throwing..problem.. after kage does some certain moves, I try throw on him, but it just doesn't work! my hands(Lei's hands that is)go out first, then, his hands(Kage)comes out to throw me, then he throws me! WTF?

    ok..

This is pretty general answer for your question, but here is my 2 cents. (If you ask more specific question like what moves you have trouble with, I will be able to help you on that, too.)

First off, when you play against Kage, break TFT for god's sake. TFT is kage's foremost weapon, and kage
players do feel uncomfortable when opponents break TFT everytime. I think you know which of Lei's move is throw counterable, so be sure to escape it. You need to input TE's after you get hit things on counter as well
    in general.

Second, practically Kage has only few throw counterble moves. His [2][K]+[G] is throw counterble only when Kage uses it in a close enough distance.
Don't try to throw kage after you block [K]+[G] .[3][K], or
    Jumanji follow ups.

Hope it helps you dealing with your friend's Kage.

ok ima kage player and i noe wut i hate -_- so i'll toss in my bit of advice

first, TFTs.. NEVER get caught!! we're talking more than 1/3 ur life here, so when the opponent blocks a guarenteed throw move from u, always throw escape against [4] and [3], cuz those do the most damage cuz kage players always follow [3][P]+[G] with a light own attack, might wanna throw in a neutral throw escape if u can get all 3 consistently, ok if ur friend is back up like crazy and u got only a little health left, then dash up there jus far enough so that an attack like [2][K]+[G] wouldnt reach u, watch out though cuz kage has far range attack, which, if blocked by u givs u a lotta free damage, i fu only hav a lil health left hes likely to try a [6][6][P]+[G]+[K]which tends to look like a high attack, but its actually un blockable high so crouch if he suddenly goes into a roll, an evade would do u a lot of good too if u noe thas the move hes trying to pull, tha move has SUCH a long recovery if blocked or evade it guarentees u som combos that u've practiced.
besides tha, after a [2][P] by a kage player watch out for [3][P], tha has som kinda evade property tha makes all ur mid -low punches miss or something? if a kage MCs u on [2][P] - [6][P] (holding [P] for jumonji) - then giv him any kind of a quick kick, or else ur gonna eat a [P]+[K] - [2][P] - [G]+[K][P][P], or if u stick to guarding ur gonna get 50 points knocked off from his jumonji stance catch throw. if a kage turns his back on u, careful now, kage has one of the best BTed games in this whole thing, great range of attacks, if u hav more health than him then MAYBE backing off of him until he turns around is the best option, or else chase him and use a quick spinning attack or guard low, dont let him catch u with the frankensteiner throw where he grabs u by the neck wit his legs, thas jus embarrassingbest way to take care of a kage in jumonji stance is a straight up [8][K], then move in as he techrolls and follow up wit wtv u got, ok im basically done here, sorry if i gave out som dumb 'advice', hope this helps

Here is my two cents. ALWAYS BREAK TFT, hehe. Aside from that Maddy pointed out kage has very little throw counterable moves. Kage lacks a BIG damaging attack. It's not like Kage has Jeffrey's knee or akira's yoho. Kage really has no launcher that hurts in comparison to his 3 major throws,TFT, D/F, and Back, down. My advise for you is, stay out of TFT, and when you get a successful dodge make the most use of your successful dodge. good luck =)

Well, he does have [2][3][6]+[K] which can deal alot of damage. But if you use that, or worse, eat it, in a match...... /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

MC late hitting knee -> somersault is 89 dmg

I use both of them, although I'm pretty lame with both. [4][2][P]+[G] is his strongest throw other than the TFT... good players will use this, as it's a "queer" direction (only 4 characters have it)

Get in the habit knowing which way to dodge, and the timing in dodging Kage's bitch slap (half crescent). Even if you dodge the right way, if you do it prematurely, he'll still float you.

Learn Kage's moves that go under mids. like
[2][P]+[K]+[G][2][P]+[K] if I'm not mistaken. if it doesn't, then I get extremely lucky.

Also remember that Kage doesn't have a quick full crescent to keep you from evading. That's why you need to get used to some Kage tactics like him waiting for your whiffed dodge.

I know where you're coming from though - Kage's tricky.

I have EXACTLY the same problem. My thinking is that Kage is simply a superior character, if not the best character in the game. (Not that you cannot win with Lei though).

Kage has few throw counterable moves, ungodly combo damage and very effective moves. Even though i have problems facing characters like Jacky, Lion and Kage, i still play Lei Fei cause i think he is fun to play with. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oops -- that move in the middle of my other post is for Lei Fei. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Kage Maru sure is very hard opponent to win. My friend uses him but evade works well because Kage doesn't have many full spinning moves. And if your opponent throws just use evading throw escape-guard. Do two throw escapes [2][P]+[G] and [4][P]+[G]. Those directions are Kage's strongest throws. Learn also Maru's guarantee throw and attack places. That works well! Hope this helps you /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif!
