Wow, so what joystick and gate are inside? Is it quality stuff or garbage? It looks like the usual stuff they put inside their sticks. I guess you are going to mode it, what are you going to put in there? No wires to the buttons? Thanks for the pics!

yeah looks like the same joystick and buttons used in the tekken 5 hori's with the matsushita microswitches. they aren't bad from my what i've used but if you want a reassuring experience that you are using arcade quality parts used in candy cabinets then you will want sanwa or seimitsu parts in there for sure.

the prongs on the buttons were probably soldered direct to the pcb so it doesn't look like much room for modding to new buttons since the sanwa microswitch prongs are bigger than the stock hori ones. the joystick on the other hand may be able to fit a sanwa jlf without a mounting plate since they share the same hole pattern for the screws like in a u.s. t5 hori. probably still have to do some extensive modding though.

good luck with your project l_a_akira. i wish i could afford to spend cash on sticks like that just to use the pcb. i really am envious that you get to use your ps3 to play all games playstation. (damn elecoms :()

I finally got the panels drilled and rewired everything with sanwa sticks. What do you guys think?

    pretty bad ass.

what model number sanwa stick is that though? i've never seen one with a blue colored base or metal gate like that. looks like a seimitsu ls series without the plastic restrictor.

i see you went with the stock hori buttons though. i've seen mods where people dremeled the prong holes on hori pcb's to be wider to fit sanwas in hori tekken 10th anniversary sticks. even though the hori button prongs are thinner and closer together than sanwas, you can bend the sanwa prongs inwards so they slide right in as long as you make the holes where the copper traces are wide enough.

really clean mod though. you're my hero with that setup. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

how come you avoided using the official sanwa buttons you had in a pile lying on your table?

Why did you have to hack a hori fighting stick 3? If you were going to do that why didn't you just use a ps3 controller, wouldn't that be cheaper?

official sony pcb's are a pain in the ass the work with, dunno about 3rd party, plus you dont want to deal with any latency problems in VF

Hack a wireless PS3 controller? Where is the tutorial for this?
Either way its either a $50 or $60 dollar controller and the $60 controller you get buttons and a stick. This guy look like he has no need for a wireless controller. Plus, if he did, he would have to buy the stick and buttons still.

is there even a tutorial to hack a sixaxis? i know that ps2 dualshocks aren't worth the hack due to having pressure sensitive analog buttons that create lag unlike psx dualshocks. i figure the sixaxis may be the same since it seems to use analog triggers for l2 and r2 like official dreamcast pads that create lag through its trigger buttons.

i also agree that L_A_Akira did the right move with using the fighting stick 3 since it is the easiest and cheapest base pcb to use.

haha, if anyone wants to donate me a sixaxis, i will gladly test it out as a base pcb for a stick with home button and port for usb recharging cable. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I said it before, and I'll say it again, great job laakira, it looks wonderful... still have the shells by any chance?

well you guys answered all the questions for me. Exactly, the sixaxis is a serious pain to deal with due to the analog and i've neard nothing but horror stories from people who have taken them apart. The FSP was 20 bux more a piece and totally worth it for the PCB and buttons.

Phoenix: The hori buttons work fine. After testing both, I couldnt find much of a difference respose and sensitivity-wise.Plus I still got all those pink and green buttons as spares just in case something happen. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Mark, Found the other one.I have them both. How do you want me to get these to you?

Oh yeah I forgot, awesome job! I have an HRAP3 and a HFS and I actually like the HFS a bit better. The buttons and stick are stiffer than the HRAP3, which I like.
