HORI REAL ARCADE PRO EX FOR XBOX360 coming to the USA on 29DEC08!

<u>The HRAP for XBOX360 is going to be released in the USA on 29Dec08</u>... I just pre-ordered one off of Amazon for $129.99. Good idea to pre-order in case they only make a limited number of sticks.

Looks like a cool stick. I like the new button layout, contrary to some of the opinions I've seen here. At least all 8 buttons are where you can actually use them. I just think it has the sleekness factor.

Reminds me of the black 360 Elite shell too...

It's a non-common ground stick, so unless you really need a stick before feb, or are really only going to play on 360, it'd be worth your while to wait for the madcatz SFIV sticks.

$99 shipped for the ps3 version hrap, which they're also selling, is a good deal though . . .

 

Hmmm... Why do some places recommend an arcade stick for FPS games? It's probably the worst type of controller you could use.

I don't remember the details but I read that the madcatz stick production is being overseen by some people who know their shit, its supposed to be pretty good if I recall correctly.

Everyone at SRK is foaming at the mouth for those sticks. I know I'll be shelling out the cash (unfortunately for my bank account) on dozens if not hundreds of arcade sticks to fuel my needs for SF4 and ST:HDR.

Definitely getting one of these. I'm happy as a clam to see Hori taking a chance of releasing these stateside, even in limited quantities.

Here's the thing- with the SF4 stick coming out, would it not be better to wait and see which one is better?

I think Hori released this about six months to a year too late.

The fact that the 360 is not the preferred console for fighting game tournies (largely Microsoft's fault for not allowing adapters) I just can't see this doing too well.

I've heard the madcatz sticks are actually going to be real good this time, unlike normal, (someone from SRK got to test it)- so it might be worth a wait.

I got to mess with the SFIV stick at the Street Fighter Event last month. What Seth told me, is going to be VERY MOD friendly. So I guess, disconnects and all. And plus, the button layout is not retarded like the HORI sticks. And also, the little groove it has to rest your hands is a HUGE welcome. I was playing with the 70$ model version BTW. Just got this stick not too long ago. The only complaint I had was the layout, but that was easily fixed by moving a few buttons around. Like any Hori RAP, it has the usual sanwa stick and hori stock buttons. Dunno if the US one is gonna have the same parts since the US Tekken 5 stick didn't have the sanwa stick and had all the buttons soldered on a PCB. Had to wait 3 months for Renchi to send it out since they couldn't get it in stock right away (something about being a Hori store exclusive in Japan), but it was worth the wait.

So the new 360 HRAP is a nice, solid stick? I pre-ordered mine, so I'm in no matter what, but it looks like a really fancy stick...

I think the button lay-out will work real well for me for VF and Street Fighter. It has the VF buttons and the six buttons for SF. I'm excited!

ZeroEx had one of these at the gathering he hosted, it's a pretty nice stick. It reminded me of the EX2 but bulkier and more solid, my inputs were coming out a lot better than the EX2 though.

Still prefer a VSHG but seeing as these are hard to get hold of now, the HRAP is definitely the best option.

If you ever played on a PS2 HRAP, it's almost the same. Real good feel. I just had to switch the buttons around since playing with the 4 default buttons on the middle of the stick felt weird and weren't curved, so I moved the layout to the first 6 buttons on the stick to match the Hori EX. I did this so I wouldn't have to configure the buttons each time I was at a friend's house. Also for SF this is a personal preference, the last six buttons on that stick(also on the HRAP ver 2 and 3) the button layout curves downwards. So I guess that's another reason why I switched the HRAP EX buttons to the first six, they curve slightly upward, sorta Japanese style.

I guess I have been away for too long. I assume the phrase "common ground stick" means that it will work on both the Xbox 360 and the PS3.

Is that correct?

incorrect. a common ground pcb is easier to hack to work on both consoles.

My hrap ex will arrive later today, I am goign to write something once I have a chance to spend some time with it.

One thing I can say, I already have the sanwa buttons ready to mod it and a couple of hole plugs ready bacause it's got like 500 buttons and I hope they don't interfere.

I algo got the microswitches to mod it in case I dont like the one that come with it. I think It will be easier to swap the microswitches rather than the whole JLF because of the common ground.
