Use your fingers to input the commands at the right times.

I'll step up this time, since everyone else has been keeping the budding Akiras informed lately.

Basically, if you don't have a Joystick, this combo is going to be next to impossible to do. Primarily because Akira's Knee is tough to do on a pad, as well as the modified Double Palm at the end of the combo.

If you haven't noticed, about half the threads in "Character Training and Technique" are questions about Akira combos, and if you read them, you'll find lots of in-depth info about doing his Knee, Double Palms on pads and sticks, etc etc.

Akira's about the most demanding character in the game when it comes to input precision, and IMO this combo is the 2nd most difficult combo he has (after the Stumbling Throw combo). So, if you're new to VF, realize that you're really high up on the learning curve here. You might want to nail down some easier stuff before trying this one (or an easier character altogether, I know Akira's really handsome, but his his row is a tough one to hoe).

But, if you're read all about modded commands, have a stick, can do the Knee most of the time, and STILL can't do it (you mean the ultra-thorough instructions in the Combo lesson aren't helping /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif? heh... I wrote them), here's some tips:

    1. make sure that your speed from Yoho to P to Knee is as fast as possible, if you leave too much time between these moves, the character won't float high enough after the Knee for the DblPm to hit.

    2. MAKE SURE you're HOLDING FORWARD on the pad/lever when inputting the P, this is crucial.

    3. to ensure that your DblPm is coming out at the proper time, start tapping [3][3] or [1][1] AS SOON as you see the Yoho start to appear. Even before it hits is fine, once it's animation has begun, it's input phase is decidedly over, and you can start entering your DblPm. After you've got your crouch dash buffered in as the Yoho begins, tap [4][6][P] right as the Yoho hits. DON'T wait for the Yoho to be "over" before you start your DblPm, buffering is crucial.

    4. to ensure fastest DblPm execution, I like to use [1][1], or more specifically [1][2][1] instead of [3][3]. This way a) keeps you from having to pass neutral a bunch of times, and b) ends your buffered CD very close to where you need to be next, [4]. If you use this command, the stick will be locked around the outside of the base the entire time, ruling out error, since you can feel that you're hitting the corner at [1]. This is why japanese sticks are best for VF, the corners.

If you want to try a combo that's a little easier, but close in difficulty, try Yoho P Yoho DblPm.

    Good Luck

    Is this even possible? [3][3][P] [6_][P] [K]+[G](Release [G] after 1 frame) [2_][6][P]+[K] [2_][4][6][P]

I don't use Akira but I have done this combo several times. I do it like this
[3][3][P] [P] [K]+[G] (release [G] after one frame) I do it clicking quickly both buttons (in Pad) and left the [K] down [2_][4][6][P] I do it [2][1][4][1][4][6][P] (Check Ohsu's and Homestay's videos).

    Use a stick, period.

Maybe someone will go along with me on this. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

    Some girls use pads.
    Some girls use tampons.

They both do the same job in slightly different ways. One is not better than the other and there are advantages to both. This girl likes the freedom of movement the tampon gives her. Nonetheless she doesn't think any of her fellow tampon users look down on girls who use pads. Nothing could be more absurd. Nevertheless...

    TAMPON PLAYERS UNITE!!!

Totally off topic, but I've actually seen anti-tampon propaganda going around at the University by some uber-feminist groups. No shit. (o.o)

    As for the combo... PRACTICE.

it'w funny, in all the "pad vs stick" off-topic-going, no one noticed my big typo.

    I wrote:

    It should read:

    3. to ensure that your DblPm is coming out at the proper time, start tapping or AS SOON as you see the KNEE start to appear. Even before it hits is fine, once it's animation has begun, it's input phase is decidedly over, and you can start entering your DblPm. After you've got your crouch dash buffered in as the KNEE begins, tap b, f+P right as the KNEE hits. DON'T wait for the KNEE to be "over" before you start your DblPm, buffering is crucial.

sorry if I confused you, I was thinking about Yoho re-floats for some reason.

Either way, you should still invest in a Joystick if you want to get serious about VF, IMO. If you use a pad, and you ever go to an arcade to play, you'll be shit out of luck because you can't plug pads into an arcade machine. That's a fact.

Imagine going to Japan, seeing all these VF gods in action, and then realizing...shite, I can only play on a pad.

Not a good feeling. Invest in a stick.

That's why we play those VF Gods here in the U.S. on a PS2 rather than in the Arcades. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Winter? Yeah. We Fins are waiting for snow! Snow keeps us inside, you know? It's stupid to go out when your ass will freeze. I don't have as much spare time as YohoA but I think I'm as good as he is. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Back to topic, that combo of Akira's IS possible. It only works on Aoi and Lion and not Pai.

U gotta imput those commands and then for the dblplm u gotta buffer it to get it out smoothly. Also Practise is helpful.

If case, the way I buffer it is: [3][3][4][6][P]

I'm not an Akira player but thats how I do the standing dblplm when I'm having fun with Akira which I do every now and then.

Ah. Doing [3][3][4][6][P] might be too slow so you may fail it often. Using that trick Yoho and I suggested is better. It's faster.
