How you use 2or8 P+K+G???

After using Shun so much I must admit I still haven't been able to use 2/8P+K+G succesfully. For example I've used it to avoid Lion's 9P and hit with follow up PPinto CHOU. Sometimes, from long/middle range, I avoid Akira's 2,3P . Other than that, most of the time I get hit. Any pointers besides "Dont use it"?? Personally I prefer stylish play over safe play even if I lose!!

Shun definitely has a few moves that seem somewhat worthless. I applaude your comment though about going for flash even if it kills you. I too feel the same way. Under that assumption I would never say "don't use it."

Actually to this day it is still unclear to me what purpose it has and also its dodging properties. There has to be times when it may be a good choice, but for the most part it is always a gamble, but one I definitely like to partake in sometimes. I will use this move once in awhile and it's usually for wow factor or to completely surprise the opponent.

From what I can gather it is completely invincible to all moves except crescent kicks, low attacks, and throws. A good time I have found to use it is against an opponent who constantly delivers an onslaught of attacks, and especially if that opponent is good at hitting you the moment you rise from a quick roll or normal rise. The problem is as you know that even if you get the move off there is so much delay between the next hit that it's practically useless. Even if you get the first punch to hit and you go for the second punch, if it's not a major counter you're screwed and stuck in stance.

This may be starting to sound like I have no real advice at all, which is somewhat the case. My only suggestion is don't take it out of your repertoire. =) There are certainly some fun times to use it, like when you know Shun is about to fly at you with his headbut, or Akira's double palm (I think that works), or Kage's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. And there are plenty more.

How about another somewhat difficult move to use with Shun - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif(/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif). I've found that this can be a GREAT confusion move, mainly because no one is used to seeing it. Most people just freeze when they see it or attack it thinking what the hell is he doing, then they get sabaki'd. I have a suggestion even on how to make it effective. First I wouldn't recommend doing it when in close range. And secondly do another one right after the first, but only push punch on the second attempt, unless the first one worked.

I have one other thing you should try. Whenever you get /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif to hit, if it major staggers immediately run up to the opponent for a throw. I can't tell you how much this has worked.

I just thought of something else pertaining to /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gifor/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif. Have you ever tried it from sitting down? I can't remember if that was even possible in VF4 or EVO but I've recently started experimenting with it.

    Hope this helps!

Thnks!!! Tell u what we need to have a Shun sparring session. One of us picks Shun so we test those tricky moves against different attacks. That said. It SEEMS 2/8 P+K+G is against "flying moves" like Shun's 66P+K. Maybe Sarah's flying knee? I think it worked once. Also, 1 P+K has always been a staple in my bag of tricks. Its more useful than most people think cuz the follow P is fast and knocks down flat with no recovery. One needs to think of 1P+K as doing it when u know that they will get sabakiid by the second twirl ( wich is the one with the sabaki properties.) Useful against PPP friendly Lau, Lion, Lei, Pai etc. Also u can bait Akiras that 2P before 2,3,P double palm. by doing 1P+K,P after their 2P. U r right most folks back crouchdash or freeze when they see 1P+K giving a free DRINK opportunity!!! LOL Like using 6P+K+G then hit P as late as possible!! Looks cool. If they expect the P then its throw time!!! Like 6P+G then 2 or 8. Then another 1P+K,P if they try to turn with P. Or 4P+K. Or a single P into yet another 6P+G then 2or8 then low K+G. Hey!! It DID work once.INSANE??? YESSS!!
