actually. Evo is not out here (LA, CA). We had 2 machines in Cal. that while they were final, were basically income tests for Sega Enterprises. They have been re-called.

I spoke with the Sega Distributor here in LA this week, and he said Evo will be available "around the end of the month". Good luck getting your local arcade to get it. It isn't being sold as an upgrade to VF4, only as a whole new kit here in the US. So, arcade owners here who were sceptical about VF4 to begin with now have to buy the whole game over again just to upgrade.

That's why here in LA we're trying to buy a board for ourselves, screw the shitty arcades that don't really care about us anyway.

Dude, I hear you!! Our local arcade makes so much money, but they dont give a shit about us. I mean we basically keep them in buisness and they treat us like shit. It fucking sucks. I wanna move to Korea or Japan and become a professional gamer lol.

Are you talkin about the arcade games? Because I havent been to an arcade in years (I would like to, none around here though). I get the games on my PS2. Does anyone know if Evo is comin on the PS2? If it is on there, when is it comin to Massachusetts?

FYI: Evolution wasn't sold as an upgrade package in Japan either -- it was sold as a new game. That basically only consits of a new GD-ROM and the decorations for the cabinet, but they charged several thousand dollars for that.

Not sure if they re-use cabinets in the states as much as they do here.

It's more difficult, but they do try and reuse cabinets often. Most cabinets in the US are made to not be easily convertible - probably one of many reasons the US arcade industry is in such decline. Can you imagine how many more new games operators would be willing to buy if they didn't have to buy expensive cabinets with their games? That's why the Neo, CPS2, etc. were all so successful in the states - easily changable games.

Plus JP cabinets have easily changable button and control configurations as well. I've seen VF4 play where somebody's button breaks, and an operator will dash over and pop a new one in in less than half a minute. Of course, the affected player usually gets a free game out of the deal, too.

I just remember what a pain in the ass converting my dedicated FV to FV2 was. Bleh. It was worth it though...

    another thing,

afaik, they don't have N@OMI 2 GD-ROM outside of Japan at all. Which means you'll have to get a completely new board. Sux! Seems Sega is very afraid of piracy outside of Japan.

    Re: another thing,

Nah man they have, its available over here.
Even Route 66 over here already came in its specialised cabinet with a naomi1 gdrom system.
    Horrible loading times.

    Re: another thing,

Like Almaci said, they exist outside of Japan. Our VF4 Evo kit in Toronto is a NAOMI2 GD-ROM board.

    cheers,
