I can't believed this happened to my girlfriend and I, we went to best buy to buy her a new laptop as a gift for her graduation present. She just got her masters in spanish literature. So, after that we went into the mall which is just across the street, we were in there for only 15 minutes to find that her car passenger window was smashed in, and laptop gone!!! I'm ass out 1200 fuckin dollars! I still really can't believe it, especially in broad daylight. I just makes you realize that society is fucked up, and hard working honest people will always be screwed over. I hate humanity!!!

That sad part is you're out $1200 and he'll sell it for $50...

The sad part is honest people getting screwed over by scum bags of society that don't contribute anything to society. And yet, we house these people in jails wasting tax money trying to reform them, when more than 90% of them fall back into doing the same shit crimes.

I'm really sorry to hear that.

I would have put something that valuable in the trunk. Was it insured/under warranty?

My parents always told me to never leave important items on display in your car and to hide them in the trunk or under the seat. I'm sorry to hear that man, personally I can't stand thieves and I hope whoever took it gets whats coming to him/her.

Bestbuy doesn't cover theft if you didn't purchase the item on a bestbuy card. Yeah, I didn't put the thing in the trunk but still its a very fucked up situation.

Man - that's horrible. If you haven't already, check with her auto insurance company to see if she can make a claim. Verify that it won't affect her status or payment with them before doing so.

I'd say she should ask when calling them about your window glass.

No matter what, call about the glass. Her deductible for glass could be quite low. I've had to replace two windows on my van (not because of robbery - they actually exploded while we were driving - two separate occasions). Both times, the deductible was only $100.

Criminals do suck, but the reasons why people become criminals
vary. Your best bet is to be aware and conscious of what your
doing at all times. Me, I have a Jeep Wrangler with a soft top.
I KNOW my shits open to get stolen at anytime. I leave that
thing crazy bare and if anything I stick any valuables in in a locked safe installed in the front.

Shits going to happen, expect it. As the economy gets worse
expect even MORE shit to happen.

Did you purchase with a credit card? Some credit card plans insure your purchases.

Contact the management of best buy?

Damn man..., I really am sorry to hear that... seriously it makes me sad becuase you're right: hard working honest people trying to do it right in this FUCKED-UP ASS ECONOMY and some Ass Wipe(s) who have probably never worked for nothing wants to come along and take it. And whats even sadder is if you would have caught them and Bust they Ass Up you would have been wrong. Shit... I pray some how you are compensated.

I understand what you are saying, but I don'y give a Fuck if he would have left all the windows down and the doors unlocked; no one had the right the to fuck with his shit. Besides that, he said he went cross the street to the mall for 15 mins, I'm betting that someone watched him from the BestBuy parking lot and followed him to the mall and broke into the car.

    I totally feel your pain.

Back in early 2007, my car got broken into, and I had a crapload of my property stolen. The total value was only about half that of your laptop, so I'm really sorry you had to learn the same lesson that I did. Now, you're gonna be totally paranoid to leave anything out of your sight.

Also, never, NEVER stop at any location close to where you make a big purchase. Someone was watching you guys as you left Best Buy and knew that he would score by breaking into your car.

Thanks for the replies guys, since my girl still lives at home she talked to her dads homeowners insurance company so hopefully they will compensate the cost of the laptop. The window is going to cost around $94 to fix which is good news. I just hope none of you ever have to go through this.

These dudes are opportunists... He was probably there when you pulled up and just waited for you to leave. Thieves are the worst POS's in the world...
