I miss Vanessa's old look.....

Discussion in 'General' started by Red_Dragon_Haze, Nov 17, 2007.

  1. You know Long beautiful white hair/darker skin, and a thicker build.

She was sexier before....Is there a way to customize her closer to her old look?

    I miss it too /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

You can make her skin darker.

I think anyone who is sick with the standard "fan service" employed in media misses old Vanessa.

I miss DS /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif too, hell the only thing I like about VF5 Vanessa is /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif//forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif buffs.

Er... Why do you all miss a man girl? I've never played VF4, or any other besides VF5. But I was with my friend at GameStop the other day and I saw VF4 Evo, and Vanessa just looked waaay too bulky to be a girl... Kinda like a man lol

I don't. I don't miss her or old Jacky and their poofy chests. Didn't look natural at all lol. I kind of miss some of her outfit options, but that's where that stops.

    And?

I thought it was nice that for once in a video game, a Japanese one for that matter, that a woman isn't portrayed as a sex object. She was just one built athlete.

She had to get all Tekken-if-ied like Sarah and Pai.

Well, it's just that he said she was "sexier before" :S

I don't care if they make a girl to look sexy or just a plain girl, but a girl who is really muscular and looks weird makes her less appealing to play as.

I don't really play girl characters anyway. I like to pick the guys to make them look all bad ass and stuff. I guess it's kinda like an MMO for me, where people find it weird if the guy picks a girl character

Different people, different tastes: I dislike things too anime influenced.

    VF4 Sarah/Aoi >>> VF highly-idealized-hideous-anime-shit-Sarah

I just hope they shrink all the girls' eyes in VF6. Owls are awesome, human-owl hybrids are teh suxxorz.

Yeah, I'm not saying you all are stupid or anything for missing Vanessa's old look. You all like that and I like this :p

I never really noticed Sarah's, Vanessa's, or Aoi's eyes, but Eileen has some crazy big eyes. Looks like a creepy doll a bit lol

    Wait, did I miss something?

They're all pretty big and super retarded looking.

Maybe in VF6 they'll base characters off real people, and hopefully Vanessa will be black, by default, as she should[/size] be.

I was just agreeing with the "different people, different tastes" saying.

yeah in vf5 sega made vanessa more de-blackafied because jap people didn't like that she looked like a strong female character. I also don't like that they've really made all of the vf girls more objectified. I'm all of sexy women but I felt like vf had been so above the doa stigma of making the girls super sexy. It was like VF was above it all.

i really don't think eileen comes off as a "sexy" character, and pai is no more "sexified" than she's ever been.

the other girls are just getting sluttier looking with each new game . . .

eileen was of course not on the list I just assumed I didn't need to make that evident with her lack of chest. Unless you're just looking for random holes in my argument.

I dunno what "sexyfied" means to you but sluttier and sexy are the same thing when it comes to a videogame.

Look at pai's old model and look at her current model she has a lot more curves and she is thinner now. She also is wearing clothes that reveal more of her skin than she ever has before. Her ver. B costume looked like a thong was on her at first until I noticed it was just a belt. That would have NEVER happened in any of the previous vf games. I'm saying vf was/should be above that kind of stuff. It made it more about the fighting.

No offense, but this seems a bit like undue elitism. I believe that's good that makers of the game seek to make VF more visually appealing. It's not like the looks dulls down the fighting experience - the mechanics stay the same, regardless of which costume a character dons. A bit of "eye candy" here and there doesn't hurt, as long as it stays reasonable (for definition of "unreasonable", see the SCIV Ivy looks or DoA's "living physics").

I played Vanessa in VF4, before Evo came along and I switched to Goh. I really enjoyed her bulky, menacing physique back then, but I believe some people are exaggarating a bit - it's not like she's become some extremely skinny, dolly wee girl in VF5 - she still has some solid body. She clearly remains black, I would even go as far as saying her face seems more "ethnic" now than in VF4. Isn't it just a storm in a teacup?

i'm just saying that, yes you might see pai's midriff now, but in comparison? you don't see bras and panties like sarah and van. she has no tacky "fan service." pai still comes off as much more a "serious fighter" character in looks and clothes than either of those two.

If it was about "the fighting", they wouldn't have had tiny girls like Pai in the game in the first place.

    Just a thought.

see, i disagree with that. even with girls as silly as eileen, it's still all about the fighting engine in this mofo. it's solid, it's balanced, it's always interesting, and even a lightweight goof like that li'l monkeygirl can hold her own in the right hands.

and i'm not just saying that because pai's my main gal. i've had me ass handed to me up and down the street by some of the "tiny girls" in this game . . .

Unless you're a die-hard fan of their old-school looks or just hate seeing girls look better, then I see no problem in character changes. Each girl has her conservative costumes, and her not-so-conservative ones.

Complaining about "tacky fan service" in this game is like saying "Why were the graphics improved?" With subsequent versions, changes are bound to happen. If you like the fighting style of a character, but not the visual style, then just customize the character and you're good. Especially in this game, I don't see why people would complain about cosmetic changes, if characters can be customized this much. Uniqueness is overrated these days anyways. I don't see how visual changes would make any fighting game any less of a fighter.

As for me, the new Vanessa's better, only because it would be tough to imagine the old Vanessa with her VF5 speech voice.
