Ice-9 smokes ass in Reality Fighter!

This was the most unbelievable VF-related event in my life... even more surreal than beating Mukki on a lucky streak (twice) many moons ago (he kicked the shit out of me and Ice at Kanispo last weekend, that should be said. We both got him down to the 5th round, 30 points each, and we both choked).

Anyways, on Saturday, we're playing, and a buddy of mine w/ his 7-dan Vanessa was playing. I told Ice to jump in w/ his Kage (also 7-dan) and play. Ice didn't exacctly own him to an embarassing degree, but he didn't lose a match. Ice went up to 8-dan, and my friend w/ Vanessa down to 6-dan. My friend (whom I've knocked down ample times, and is always in a jolly mood) was making these weird faces. All of a sudden, he pulls a fucking Jeffry kick on the machine, knocking it at least a full meter against Ice. (Yes - both machines). I'm like, "No, he didn't do that!". Thinking it was a freak occurance, I'm concentrating on my game on the next machine, and then I hear him screaming, throwing not only a coffee over the machine at Ice, but also an ashtray and god knows what else. He runs over to the other side, and I'm luck, "FUCKING SHIT"

At that point, I'm ready for anything, only to find Ice has thrown him against the wall, and doing all sorts of shit I thought I'd never see out of Singaporean. It was unreal. Taught him a lesson was an understatement. Some other guys jumped in, and he fucked them up too! I thought about pulling him off, but figuring I'd get dealt a lethal blow myself, I passed, and waited it out. When it was all done, there were some severe black eyes and a lot of blood, but Ice was victorious.

If you've read this far, you probably think I'm bullshitting, which of course I am. Up to the part where it turned into a fist-fight though is totally true. I almost pissed myself when I saw it. I couldn't believe it. Being the foreigner, Ice did the right thing, just chilled while I shook some sense into my buddy. It turns out, he was a fifth to the wind - totally blasted and it was only like 6PM. (Sheesh). I took him outside, told him to fuck off, and that that was a friend of mine that's VISITING HIS COUNTRY. I think he got the idea that what he did WASN'T cool, and apologized. He said he was going to sleep in his car, but wouldn't give me his keys (that give me your keys thing hasn't been born here yet, btw). I didn't see him on the news, so I assume he's alive.

All in all, it was a shock. I tried for 10 minutes to shmooze this kick-ass poster from the game center (Gigo - where I often go) due to the trauma laid on Ice. They almost gave it up, but the manager wasn't around, so that was a bust. The poster is awesome, it's got Aoi and Akira only on it - she's got on the red kabuki star, and Akira's got that bandana on his head. I'll still try to get that fucker. Basically, proper compensatation is something else that's not born here. I've heard of people finding roaches in their food, and the manager offering half-priced drinks for an hour. Of course, if there's any foreigners in the party, they'er like, "Bullshit - we'll take the entire meal compted, and we'll have some more drinks - also compted." /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Anyways, it was eventful. We played a bit after that, and I can only hope that Ice got all the coffee off of him.

10:1 odds that I never see ANYTHING like that again.

On an unfortunate note, since Jeff didnt' show up last night (sunday night) at Gigo, he missed a rare appearance by Heruru, with only a few people in there. I got to play against him 4-5 times.

Ah you almost had me. You pull a good story though /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Anyway hope he wasn't shaken up too much, make sure you protect him from those vicious VF players! /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. Certainly not a tale I thought I would hear from Japan.

Also get that poster. And take pics. Pics that are posted on a website for easy viewing.

For a moment there I thought I was reading a script from Jet Li's latest movie...

Honestly, I am shocked /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. The Japanese are supposed to be the most cultured and polite people in this part of the world, and yet this is coming from Japan. Yeah, I know Gaijin said the incident was an exceptional one but still.. Oh well, I hope Jeff is alright.

Now I understand why everybody wants to go to Japan for VFighting. Besides the high levels of competition there, if you ranked up in the 'right' arcade, you get free coffee and cigarettes thrown in, sheesh..

This reminds me of a similar incident, which I witnessed in our local arcade many years back. I was at AMK Funland then when I saw a game of virtua fighting (VF3) ended in a fury of stools throwing and fists exchanged.

Seriously, nobody likes to lose but whether you win or lose, ultimately it's still only a GAME. And for those who really can't afford to lose then they should stop playing altogether and get a life.

very true. and given my own experiences I would have to say that I have never gotten into a explosive yelling match at an arcade or even witnessed one; in fact, in person, VF players are usually the most polite creatures I've met.

So what you are saying is; whether you are Japanese or not, if you lose a few games in the arcade and you get really pissed off, it is perfectly alright to throw coffee or whatever stuff you can grab hold of and hurl them at people, so long as noboby gets hurt?

Great. I try to remember that next time.

I think it is safe to say that that isn't what was meant.

people being assholes/making poor decisions are a constant no matter where you are located. since all that occured in this case was one fellow being drunk and shouting, it isn't an amazing or particularly horrific occurance.

Oops, hope my first comment didn't open up this can of worms, certainly wasn't my intention. I believe something like this could definitely happen anywhere.

I once had a guy kick a hole in a Last Blade 2 cabinet after he kept losing to me.
His face turned red, turned around and kicked as hard as he could with his heel, demolishing the lower money compartment.

Ice must've been using some rinky dink pattern or strat and, he just kept falling for it over and over until he couldn't take it anymore and finally snaped. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif Man, you had me believing in the whole fighting scene scenario. I was like... damn !!!! /versus/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

P.S. Ice : Did you say anything to him that might've provoked this ? And what tactics did you use to get him so pissed off ? Think I'm gonna start playing Kage again. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm ashame to say that I'd elbow someone in the past from losing in SF turbo champion edition to a scrub. Not proud of it but at least luckily he wasn't hurt that bad. And the truth is in most situation like these it's usually the person who was losing was probably more pissed off at himself than the guy next to him who was betting him. There are exceptions like bad sticks or buttons but that's rarely the case since people who know that his side is handicaped usually won't complain. /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Me, I hate playing against Laus, whether I win or lose but I'll never go buckwild over a game unless it's a bet and the amount wagered was superior to $ 50 or something like that. And even then, if there was no cheating involved I can't see how I can just go up to the guy and kick his ass, especially if he's not trashtalking me and rubbing it in.

This is what you should've told him Ice :
-''Can take the heat, then stay the fuck out the kitchen!!'' /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

    LOL.

You had me there. I was all like, "Damn Ice9 must be all crazy in real life, kicking ass like that!"

hahhah...but he made the smart choice though...it's always best to avoid violence unless absolutely necessary.
Well, at least the drunk guy didn't throw up on Ice and the machine...that'd be so gross...

Lots of military figures play VF (go figure), one of 'em lost an prize match against his son, omg he snapped the controller IN HALF, it was classic.

The guy lived next door to me, lol though, actually in half.

His side might seem more 3-D, since he was watching the stuff come over the machine and into his comfort zone. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I can't say that this is the first case I've heard of, but I think it's dismissive to say that it was caused by VF - there are fights, however rare, in Japan over many things.

Alcohol never helps either. One thing I told the guy, was my golden rule - don't use your card when you've been drinking! Most of the arcades are right next to bars. It's problematic if you have some drinks and then go play.

Not to worry pltan, my posting has nothing to do with your comment. In fact when I first read this thread, your post was not in it yet. I am just expressing my opinion.

GE, if that’s not what Jedi meant, then neither was my intention to portrait what happened was a particularly horrific one. I know this sort of thing happens everywhere. I too had a few personal bad experiences in the arcade. It’s just not cool, that’s all.

Ice-9 must have thrown at least a hundred [2]+[P] every round to make that guy really blew his head off /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.

Hmm…Maybe they should put up a banner at the arcade entrance that reads:

“If Your Drink, Don’t Play Fighting Games†/versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif.
